Introducing: is a  series that will introduce you to my many friends in the event industry and beyond, who's work and attitude I love. The coming event season is going to be a very difficult one for all, with the COVID-19 crisis keeping many businesses and venues closed and seeing events being canceled or postponed to 2021. In an already difficult industry, it's crucial we help support our creative talent to make sure we are all still here when things get back to as close to normal as they can be. A quick shop update

Starting this week retail shops such as Periwinkle are being allowed to reopen to the public, with certain restrictions in place. As we figure out how to work within this new normal, I'm going to be adapting and changing as I see how things work (or don't work).  For now, here's what I'm doing:  I am extending my hours slightly, now 10 am to 3 pm, and will continue to offer curbside contactless pick up within that time as well as afternoon delivery. While we are technically allowed to have customers in the shop this week I am going to keep the shop itself closed for now. With such ..read more

I met Janice for the first time at one of my favourite weddings I've worked on, Katie and Matt, just this past fall. I am always amazed by good event planners. On the surface, it sounds like a simple job to do, but the work is really quite difficult- think, herding cats who are all feeling emotional and stressed for time ( I'll let you decide if I'm talking about the wedding party or the vendors... or both :)! That wedding went off without a hitch, thanks to Janice and her very calm demeanor. At various points in the time I was onsite I heard Janice calmly contacting a vendor who hadn't ful ..read more

As of course you know, the entire world is currently in crisis dealing with the covid-19 virus. Here in Toronto, Canada, we are under a state of emergency as our healthcare system struggles to manage the load and our government tries to flatten the curve. Our little flower shop is closed for now, but we anticipate being able to deliver flowers again next week in a limited capacity while keeping the shop itself closed of course. In the meantime we are working through all the emotions and feelings and trying to find moments of joy in what is a very scary and sad time.  One of the ways is loo ..read more

Wedding ceremony backdrop behind the scenes

A little behind the scenes from one of our events this past weekend. This ceremony space is just a dream to work with- a blank white glowing box courtesy of event venue District 28 here in Toronto. For the wedding of the lovely Katie and Adam we wanted to create a backdrop that had a bit of a rambling wildness to it while still keeping things romantic and contained. This wedding was a fun one to set up as we got to use our favourite vine, Smilax, which we can only purchase in large quantities so isn't always a possibility for smaller event work. We attached gorgeous full and lush ..read more

A March wedding at the Gladstone Hotel

These gorgeous images arrived in our inbox recently and immediately brought tears to our eyes. The lovely couple, Meg & Marshall, are just the nicest people ever and the entire day was swimming in emotion as they married. The late March day was blustery to begin with and then turned to snow, but that didn't deter them. The Gladstone Hotel was a perfect downtown Toronto venue, filled with character and fun just like Meg & Marshall. By special request of the couple we made the wedding flowers with entirely local product ( the only import was the greenery which isn't available locally ..read more
