This beauty wagged her tail though her leg was badly wounded and her neck was covered in scabs and dried blood from a rampant fungal infection at the throat. She slipped into our arms without flinching, and as we carried her to the ambulance, Meetu’s ears pricked forward and she seemed to say “Where are we going?” with eager curiosity rather than fear. Her treatment included pain meds, thorough cleaning of both the wounded leg and the wide swath of fungal infection which had even made its way up to her eyes; we comforted her with medicated cream, food and the healing touch of snuggles. Healing Mama dog’s enormous wound so that she can get back to her babies…

This mama dog tried to ignore the terrible wound on her chest. She had a job to do–to feed her babies. Her neighbors called us immediately when they noticed Burki’s blood matted fur. Maggots can work incredibly quickly to worsen an already-awful wound. It was hard to separate Burki from her two puppies, but the family kindly offered to keep her babies healthy while Burki healed in the hospital. Once in treatment, her eyes transformed from fearful to sad. We would do everything we could to ensure she healed quickly and could get home to those waiting for her. But still, it would take several we ..read more

Saving a dog with multiple fractures after being hit by a car…
Animal Aid Unlimited
by hannahcooper
3w ago
Motorists saw a dog get hit by a car and alerted us immediately.  The dog lay lifelessly on the median as traffic rushed by and people gathered around the unconscious but breathing figure. When our rescuers lifted him, he didn’t even flinch. But within the time it took to reach our hospital, Trooper had regained consciousness though he was in terrible pain. We saw no open wounds, but discovered on examination that both his front legs were fractured. We had to place him in two splints and confine Trooper to “bed rest” for a month, which in order to save this amazing boy. Meet Trooper now ..read more

You wouldn’t be wrong to think Beam was dying. He lay flat in a heap of garbage, a huge maggot wound bearing into his neck. When our rescuers came, he didn’t flinch. He had no energy or will to escape. He extended his head to avoid pain, and quietly allowed us to lift him into the ambulance. He must have been so weary. He’d given up hope. Weakness, dehydration, starvation, pain…it was all about to change for Beam, but he didn’t seem able to realize it for the first couple of days. You can see in his eyes, his hopelessness. BUT by week 2, we’re seeing not only the wound healing, but his eyes ar ..read more

Street dog wounded and in complete shock… watch her play now!

This beautiful girl had a gaping wound on her neck from a car accident. Whatever the cause, Matilda would have soon died without rescue. Her absolute stillness at the scene of our rescue told us the kind of pain she was in. Paralysing fear surrounded her. We hurried her to our hospital and immediately began her treatments: pain medicine, antibiotics and her first thorough cleaning of the wound and the area around it, followed by bandages. This would be part of Matilda’s daily routine for more than a month. Her incredible progress started almost immediately and by 3 weeks, it’s hard to believe ..read more

Auggie lay cold and still. We’re not sure why he had collapsed. He had no broken bones or evidence of internal injury. We brought him to our hospital and treated Auggie’s hypothermia first, with blankets, hot water bottles and a heated hydration drip. All we could do is let the hours pass as his warming body absorbed the fluid and he realized that he was being caressed and kept close as his mother would have done, if he hadn’t been forcibly separated from her. Auggie is still a little guy, with a lot of growing to do. Animal Aid will keep him until he’s a much stronger boy. The post Cold ..read more

We got a phone call from a poor rag-picker in a slum that their puppy Bunty had been hit by a car. We hurried to the rescue and found a growing boy of about 4-5 months laying completely unconscious. Unresponsive and limp, we hurried Bunty to our hospital. Our examination revealed no visible wounds or fractures. His body condition was fairly good; he was not dehydrated.  We treated him for pain, and gave him a quiet kennel to rest in. The moment he smelled his lunch, we knew by his thumping tail that he was already on the mend. After 7 days of rest, nourishment and love, look at Bunty now ..read more

How could he survive that wound? Let Mason show you!

This boy’s horrendous wound seemed to have frightened him into absolute stillness. The flesh was torn away from the back of his neck. We carried him gently, though we hurried to our ambulance. Mason allowed us to clean his wound without flinching for an instant. His eyes initially seemed to stare out to the distance, or turn inward to an imaginary world–maybe it was Mason’s way of coping with the pain. But as soon as the IV drip was inserted and he ate his first meal, Mason was already starting to transform. He smiled easily when Dhapu came into his kennel to give him comfort. We knew then tha ..read more

She could barely breathe or swallow. A wire was wrapped around this street dog’s neck. Her face had swollen so badly she hardly looked like a dog anymore. Frightened of people, we had to catch her with a net because she didn’t want to be touched. We hurried her to the hospital and immediately removed the wire and gave her pain medicine, stabilizing her with an IV drip. Thankfully the wire had not yet cut through her skin. She surveyed her new surroundings with grave doubt, but when we saw how eagerly she ate, we knew Sherry would pull through. In a few days the swelling subsided and it didn’t ..read more

Abandoned, lifeless young Parsley’s fight to stay alive!
Animal Aid Unlimited

From a distance this baby looked like he’d already died. But wait! He’s breathing! We found that he couldn’t even lift his head. His eyes were wide and rolled back–a sign of acute distress. Using our hydraulic lift we got him into the ambulance and rushed him back to the hospital where we examined him for wounds (he had no visible wounds) and immediately started him with treatment. His eyes opened with consciousness, but only for a moment, and again he collapsed, exhausted. But a few hours later he attempted to eat on his own. He couldn’t manage it but we could see Parsley’s beautiful will to ..read more
