This Ouija-inspired Thumby example was created as a personal pixel art design challenge by the maker, @AyreGuitar, to see if they could fit the board in the small 72 by 40 pixel screen, remarking it's "more of an eye test really!" Directions for use: ask a question and press the A or B button to see the planchet move. Watch it hover over letters to communicate spiritual messages. Wait until it stops before trying again! Your browser does not support the video tag.  Try the WEEJA example yourself to discern life-changing questions in possibly the tiniest way ever made! Here is th ..read more

Thumby is small and can be hard to find when it's lost! To protect the Thumby enclosure and keep from misplacing it, using a case can be a great option. During the Kickstarter, special edition Thumbys were packaged in gameboy game cartridge cases, and these continue to be great to use in a pocket for carrying. @dardennda showed off their Kickstarter order highlighting the special edition Gold Thumby in a case:   Some sewing skills by @Abracadabera on Discord were used to make a soft Thumby case: Surprisingly, toothbrush cases work perfectly for the Thumby size. @Adrian 2 Cool got en ..read more

Thumby is small, around the size of a thumb, so it's easy and fun to work it into a wearable accessory! The small gaming console works great as a necklace, as discovered by @Xyvir: Their bracelet in the above image also works as an on-the-go Thumby charger: @Xyvir's other Thumby was modified to work as a watch charm that snaps on:   @Adrian 2 Cool also worked a Thumby into a watch, making it more of a focal point: Last, but not least, Thumby can be great as a ring with the right design. Moshgra did a great job creating wearable Thumby rings:  What's next? Thumby earrings ..read more

A game jam is a period of time dedicated to making games with a set of parameters or limitations that community members work on individually, or sometimes collaboratively, to create a playable game by the end of the jam time.  Thumby has a small (72 by 40 pixels) monochrome OLED display, so the limitations of the screen alone make it a great candidate for a game jam! Using the sprite editor from the Thumby Code Editor, prototyping and building a quick micro game is very approachable for beginners and experts alike in game-making and pixel art. While Thumby may be cute and even bite-size, it's not meant for eating! We've seen a YouTuber show the wonder in Thumby's size via putting Thumby in their mouth - this is not recommended! But here's the video by JohnRiggs anyways: What is, however, recommended is making sweet treats made of edible ingredients, like flour and sugar, and creating Thumby-esque desserts in the size and design of how Thumby looks. Here are some examples from Discord user and baker @Cobble616: Sugar Cookie Thumbys (Thookies) Tiny Colored Candy Thumby What's next for Thumby treats? A special and tiny challen ..read more

The original Star Wars ASCII Animation, or ASCIImation, was initiated in 1997 by Simon Jansen. Today, there exists a smaller version of it on Thumby, made by Discord user @AyreGuitar. In their first implementation, they produced a visually understandable reproduction of the ASCII animation: "Serious Eyestrain productions presents: ASCII Star Wars on Thumby! Using uncompressed text from the original here: https://asciimation.co.nz/ and a 1x3 [font]" Your browser does not support our video.   In their most recent update, readable subtitles are available with the tiny animations: "I've ..read more
