180 day rule after 1-year visa

I’m in a Schengen country on a 1-year residence visa. I don’t want to renew the visa but I do want to visit other countries after the visa expires. The 180 day rule sounds to me like I need to be out of the Schengen zone for 90 days before I return , either to the same country or a different one. Anybody know? I’m thinking the last 90 days of the resident visa and 90 days at home (USA) are 180 days, and I can go back for up to 90 days after that. Any experience with overstayed Schengen visa?

Before you tell me I Fd up I already know that… I’m looking for advice here. Five years ago I over stayed my tourist visa in the Schengen area. I overstayed by about a month. Now of course there is no excuse but I truly believed I could be there for up to 6 months. I was there for 4. As soon as I learned that I was overstaying I left immediately and returned home to the states and I have not been back since. I’m traveling to Italy this June for a wedding and I’m planning to be there for 10 days. A few days for the wedding and then a week to travel and explore. I have not been back ever since ..read more

Hey everyone, I'm reaching out to the Reddit community seeking some guidance on how to navigate the process of obtaining a Schengen visa for Denmark as an Indian citizen. Here's a bit of background: I've been in a committed relationship with my Danish girlfriend for the past five years (almost six), and we've met in person five times. However, despite applying three times for a visa during my college years, I've unfortunately faced rejections each time. Now that I'm employed and financially stable, I believe the timing is right to give it another shot. I'm optimistic that our circumstances ha ..read more

3 weeks with no answers after a 221g is normal? (Us Consulate in Frankfurt)

Hi, I am a French citizen and had my interview the 26th of march in Frankfurt for a B2 tourist visa. My photo was not valid so the officer asked me to resend one, which I did the same day. He also told me I would receive my passport within one week. I saw on here that some people received their passport in like two or three working days. I tried emailing them multiple times but no answers whatsoever and on call they always tell me to contact them by email. So I was wondering if it was normal and also what can I do since I was planning on traveling really soon ?? submitted by /u/Able-Two-2773 ..read more

What are some legal visa loopholes to stay longer or long term in a country you have heard of ?

Marrying someone isn't such a great loophole because its kinda obvious what most countries offer to stay long-term. I once heard someone take a Thai course in Thailand to stay longer because the course gave the person a 1-year visa. Something like that is a creative legal loophole to take advantage of. submitted by /u/4everonlyninja [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi, I'll be travelling to Australia on a tourist visa for my honeymoon. When I filled in my visa application I put my relationship status as 'Engaged' but by the time we enter the country we will be married. I can't seem to find a way to update this detail on my visa application since it's already been approved - will this cause me issues when entering the country? All other details on the visa are correct. Thanks! submitted by /u/sintiq1 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi! I was an Intern in the US back in 2021 and 2022 got back here in the PH. Now, I am planning to go back in the US either this year or next year for training program under the same type of Visa (J1). But I had unsettled credit in my credit card before leaving and I think, I got blacklisted already. Has anyone know if that will affect my Visa application for J1?
