Chillest remote / WFH jobs?

I'm a mechanical engineer (oil and gas industry), but looking for a career change. Looking for something where I can work remotely, yet also have a lot of down time to work on my own side projects. (Currently my job is in-office). Don't care if it's boring work, lesser pay, etc, just looking for a paycheck with a environment that is more laid back. What are the best options for such work? I've heard Cybersecurity, Systems Administrator, among others, but all seem like I'd need to go back to school for them. submitted by /u/ChiefRunningCar [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

When to ask for a raise

I work a minimum-wage job as a grocery store clerk. I have been working there for about 7 months, and am still working for minimum wage. Not to sound snobby, but the other clerks my age are known for not doing much. Some of them call in a lot. I am usually on time, and when I am late it is usually by only two minutes. I work part-time and have been told that I do my job well. I’m not sure exactly how to ask for a raise, but I would like one. I was (off-handedly) offered a job elsewhere that makes above minimum wage. Should I mention that to them? Let me know. submitted by /u/PerrytheBlueWagP ..read more

Seeking recruiter for a Russian Estonian English journalist

Hi all, my wife and I live in Washington, DC. I'm looking for a recruiting/headhunter company to help her find work remotely or hybrid in the DC area. She's a journalist/editor and it seems there should be a lot of demand for the rare speakers of Estonian. Only luck we have had so far requires clearances but she's not a citizen yet, only work permit. Any suggestions? Thank you much in advance. submitted by /u/RiflePoet [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

If you handed over a key but made a copy. During an emergency, you’re asked if you have it, should you use it? Would it make people less trust you in the future?

In my country minimum wage increases every April. I started my job in 2020 making $4 over minimum and had to get a pay rise last year as minimum was about to go over my wage. I emailed about it and was told off for including who I thought the relevant parties were (we're a non profit so I emailed my boss and the finance person). Over video call after telling me off my boss explained that I was only getting paid 30¢ over minimum because I don't have a degree. I did not feel like I was able to say anything despite having over 4 years experience (I now have part of a degree in a related study as ..read more
