By Agnes Aasmaa  When you think about quality beer, there is one country you can always count on - Belgium. UNESCO has even added the Belgian beer culture under the intangible cultural heritage list. Belgian beer is even older than the country itself and produced before Belgium became independent.  There are over a thousand types of beers made in Belgium alone. Not only is beer in Belgium for drinking, but there are several cultural events revolving around beer, it is used in cooking, and even the beer glass has huge importance in the beer culture. Each beer has its own glass. Don’t ..read more

Yes! After seven years of sharing legendary beer culture we've finally decided to launch our OWN beer! ??? As many of you already know, we fell seriously in love with beer while travelling from the UK to the US back in 2013. We discovered that nothing beats a cracking craft beer after a bit of adventure! We spent a lot of the time hiking, biking and canoeing in the States enjoying that refreshing, cool reward at the end of the day! It was an awesome trip discovering the world of craft beer. We continued doing this after returning to the UK, planning plenty of adventures based around visiting ..read more

With things starting to look like they’ll be going back to normal very soon, there’s a huge sigh of relief throughout the brewing community. One of those people is Chris Hodgetts (also known as Hogman) from Leviathan Brewing in Birmingham. Chris only started in 2019, not the best timing I’m sure you’ll agree. I caught up with Chris on Zoom over a cheeky beer to find a bit more about what inspired him to start a brewery and how he’s got through this turbulent time, “I’d been home brewing for over 15 years at home and it was something I loved doing. I was doing large IT consultancy projects at ..read more

Next pub in our Great Pubs series is the Firefly in Worcester. We’d heard so many awesome things about this place we just had to check it out. The route down was fantastic – we hit up the gravel bikes and headed down the Worcester and Birmingham Canal. The route was beautiful, through scenic countryside, which was the perfect appetiser for some awesome beer! View our route on Komoot HERE. Sign up for a free account to view the full content and details of our adventure. Based in the centre of Worcester, this funky pub has a great feel, along with some solid brews! The exterior is a tall Georg ..read more

The tale that I am going to tell you is a story that stretches almost 480 miles! Bec Juane (Yellow Beak), which is run by Chrigl Luthy/ Matthew Stone, originated in London at The Kernel Brewery on the Bermondsey Beer Mile, when Chrigl, who is the head brewer “made the decision to bring better beer to the mountains.”   Now the brewery serves fresh beer brewed in small scale batches, accompanied by a great menu which includes vegetarian and vegan options, using fresh ingredients, sourced mainly from local producers. We were in the area for another adventure, mountain biking which ..read more

*All photographs were taken prior to lockdown restrictions. It’s been almost 12 months since I visited the guys at Redbeer’d on Birmingham’s renowned Stirchley Beer Mile. Best friends Ant and Vicki, who had been in the trade for many years had decided to make the jump to create their own dream bar. Chatting to them over a casual interview accompanied by a pint from Fownes was awesome and probably one of the most relaxed interviews I’ve ever had but little did we know what was about to unfold… Within weeks, there would be a midst of confusion and panic in what now may well be one of the bigges ..read more

Beer has always been a force for good and we’ve seen plenty of charitable festivals, collabs and other activities run in collaboration between breweries and charities in the ..read more
