We started our first IVF cycle yesterday. While on the phone with our medical team they said that our doctor had in our notes to prime prior to stims. This was news to us as we weren’t told prior to ordering the medications that we needed to prime. We also have scheduled time away from work for the next 2 weeks in preparation for stims & ER. Of course if we were notified in advanced we would of adjusted and made do. Just leaving a little info here for people with EDS or any connective tissue disorder going through this process. If you are having pain with PIO that seems extreme, don’t be quiet! I heard PIO injections were painful but was not prepared for what I had coming ?. Because we have trouble with our collagen/connective tissues, our ability to heal is exceptionally slower than those with health tissues. That being said, there are ways for it to not be as painful. 1. Prednisone!! 40 mins before- rub lidocaine on injection area 20 minutes before, put on heating pad 15 mins before, more lidocaine and continue heating Put syringe on heating pad for 5 minutes to warm up the oil Inject PIO - have band aid ready and begin massaging immediately after injection Heat for 5-10 more minutes Finish with 20 squats ? or some sort of exercise to get the muscle moving/blood flowing Keep in mind, this routine is for the nights I’m at home and relaxing. Hey all. I am doing my first round of stims right now, on day 3. I have a monitoring appointment tomorrow at 9 am. My period on my tracking app says it's due in 9 days but typically is comes a day or so sooner or later.
