We've been waiting to feature Dave's KHK for a while
Greasy Kulture

Dave Polgreen has been building attention-grabbing custom Harleys for as long as we've been publishing the magazine; in fact, he was on the cover of issue four – then again in issue 61! In other words, we like what he builds; and this single-shocked, super-modified KHK (which picked up a couple of awards at Born Free last year) is no exception. We've waited a while for a feature; it's been on a ship to Japan... but didn't quite get there! You'll find the full story in the new issue 92 ..read more

Mixing Harley and Indian... Smit tells us why in the new issue
Greasy Kulture
by Guy Bolton
1y ago
The two big boys of American motorcycle manufacturing from the mid-20th century, Harley-Davidson and Indian, have each always had passionate and partisan support. And never the twain (twin?) shall meet... But these days, some bike builders are a bit less – what – loyal? blinkered? and are happy to mix and match certain elements of both makers to create a motorcycle that offers a 'best of both worlds' riding experience. Smit, from Braidwood in Australia, is one such open-minded owner: and he created the Harley U on the cover of the new issue 91 as a result of his enlightened thinking. Which bit ..read more

Greasy Kulture

Gary Royal knows how to build a show bike – if you saw his Born Free Knuckleheads this summer you know what we're talking about. But this righteous Panhead – complete with girder front end – is his everyday rider and we love it. He's on the cover of new issue 89 and we have a big feature inside, shot in San Francisco by Mark F. Kirkland. Check it out. But be quick: the web store closes for a two week break from Sunday October 2nd and we won't be shipping any orders during that break ..read more

Max Schaaf is on the cover of the new issue
Greasy Kulture
by Guy Bolton

It's exactly 15 years since we published the first issue of Greasy Kulture and back then Max was making news with his constantly fresh take on the chopper scene, his respect and love for the traditional styles and methods of yesteryear and his integrity as a person and bike builder. He's still doing it... and it's apt he's on our cover for this anniversary. Moochie's Knuck... which Max revived and restored to the road... has quite a bay area history. Read all about it here ..read more
