A couple weeks ago, reviews for a new wearable AI device started hitting the market. While the device reviews aren’t great, they do give us a hint at the future of wearable technology. If used right in the future, the technology could be used to make people, armed or unarmed, a lot safer from criminal attackers.
But, before we get to my ideas on the potential for this technology, let’s first share one of these reviews and discuss what the technology is supposed to do:

Back in the day, we used to paint our front sights white or red if we wanted to see them better. Times have changed, and now fiber optics are a much better option. They really do stand out, and work even in fairly low light. Fiber Optic inserts work great for all ages, but especially as I get older I appreciate the help in finding that front sight. XS Sights just dropped a new set of fiber optic sights for Glocks, and it just so happens that I shoot a lot of Glocks and Glock pattern pistols ..read more

Wednesday, December 13, 2023, began just like any other workday for Bryan Montiea Wilson, a 33-year-old resident of West Columbia, South Carolina, who had never been in trouble with the law.
At 6 a.m., Wilson began his shift at Harsco Rails on West Technology Drive, where he worked as a material processor for the railroad equipment manufacturer. A couple hours later, Wilson’s supervisor found him on the facility floor and told him to report to the main office ..read more

While several states have passed laws this legislative session protecting gun owner privacy by prohibiting the use of firearm-specific merchant category codes by payment processors, Colorado has done just the opposite.
On Wednesday, Democrat Gov. Jared Polis signed SB24-066 into law, basically creating backdoor gun registration in the state by requiring use of such codes.
At issue is a new Merchant Category Code (MCC) for gun purchases adopted by the International Organization for Standardization a little over a year ago ..read more

An article from a couple weeks ago in Mother Jones raised the alarm about the dangers of conservative Christians with weapons, complete with the usual specter of fascism being raised. But, anyone capable of just a little bit of critical thinking and armed even with cursory historical knowledge will see pretty quickly that there’s a serious flaw in the thinking.
Before I get started, I do want to point out that I’m not The Truth About Guns’ most staunch defender of traditional conservative values ..read more

I’m a fan of mini shotgun shells like the Aguila Mini Shells and Federal Shorty Shells. I realize they have their limitations concerning range and power level compared to full-sized shells, but I think they’re still a viable option if you keep those things in mind. The biggest problem with mini shells is that they won’t cycle a semi-automatic shotgun, and many pump shotguns don’t feed them well either. Mossberg’s new 590S series shotguns are designed with a lifter assembly so that they feed minis right from the factory ..read more
