Socialite impresses at Leicester

Socialite is a horse we held in high regard last year, and unfortunately he had an injury that kept him off the track. We have taken our time with him this spring and let him come to himself after a long time off. His work has always been good, and he really impressed us recently. He has a little bit of Too Darn Hot about him as he can get on his toes, but he took the whole racecourse experience very well and we were delighted with his performance. We will take things slowly we him, but we do think he is above average and are delighted for his owners who have been very patient and understandin ..read more

Rukaana scores at Nottingham

Rukaana had worked well with The Ice Phoenix on Wednesday morning, so after that horses victory we were more confident of Rukaana’s chances. He’s a horse who takes a bit of stoking up, and Christian Howarth never gave up despite it not looking promising at one stage. He’s a big horse and has plenty of strengthening up to do, so there should be a fair bit of improvement in him ..read more

Special win for The Ice Phoenix

Seeing The Ice Phoenix carry the came colours as his Das did into the winners enclosure at Ascot was very special. Although not the top level performer that his dad was this horse is a lovely progressive three year old, with a fantastic attitude to life. He should give Ann Plummer and her family a lot of fun this year, and it would be fabulous if he could sneak into The Brittania at Royal Ascot ..read more

Nice surprise from Remarkable Flight

Will Cox deserves plenty of praise for his galvanising ride on Remarkable Flight at Brighton. She’s always shown us more at home than she has on the racecourse, and evidently saves a bit for herself. Maybe the quirky nature of the track helped keep her more interested! She’s come out of the race looking like she hasn’t had one, so it probably won’t be long before you see her again ..read more

Divine Libra is impressive at Chester

For a big horse Divine Libra operates really well around the tight turns of Chester, as he gained his second course win. He’s only really just beginning to fill his frame and there’s still a lot of physical improvement in him. He does like a bit of dig in the ground, so really fast summer ground may not be ideal. But it would be lovely to think he can compete in one of the big sprint or 7 furlong handicaps at the major summer festivals. A big well done must also go to the McLaren family, as this was their second win of the week ..read more

Miletus shows guts to win at Windsor

We’ve always had a lot of time for Miletus, but he has been, and still is, backward both mentally and physically. He’s a big frame at the moment, so it was encouraging to see him handle the soft ground so well as it was probably more ability than anything. Mentally he is still a big baby and was flicking his ears throughout, however he was very tough to make all. We’ll see what the handicapper does now, but you wouldn’t really know where his limit is ..read more

Maghlaak puts up a good performance to win after a year off

Maghlaak is beautifully bred, being the last foal of our 1000 Guineas winner Ghanaati, and has plenty of ability. He hasn’t been the easiest to train, but hopefully his problems are behind him and he can progress throughout the season. It was a good performance, in energy sapping ground at Goodwood, after a year off. He’ll probably end up getting 12 furlongs, and we honestly don’t know where he could end up ..read more

Excellent weight carrying performance from Equality

The trip up to Mussleburgh proved worthwhile as Equality put up an impressive performance to win the feature handicap. The ground proved to be too quick for him in Dubai, but he enjoyed his trip out there in the warm weather and came home looking in great shape. On the back of his runs the handicapper dropped him enough to run in one of these top class handicaps, however after this victory he will probably have to go back into pattern company where he proved very effective last year winning a Group 3 and placing third in a Group 1 ..read more

Robbo gets us off the mark

Robbo’s easy win at Chelmsford came with great relief as we got off the mark for 2024. We haven’t had many runners, and the majority have run well with a lot being placed. However it was great to get in the winners enclosure, especially with a horse who looks like he could be a progressive three year old this year. Gelding him definitely helped as he wasn’t concentrating 100% last year, and he looked much more professional in his race ..read more

Final runner of 2023 is a winner
Charle Hills

It was great that our final runner of 2023 was a winner. Kodiac Thriller really deserved his win at Lingfield after a couple of near misses. Will Cox gave him a great ride from the front, and used the horses experience when it mattered. The horse himself is a good stamp of a horse with plenty of size about him, and could make up into a nice three year old handicapper next year ..read more
