Any tips? I'm so very tired :(

Almost finished active treatment (last Herceptin this week)! Honestly I'm knackered. I feel bad moaning because it's been relatively smooth sailing treatment wise but yeah, fatigue is a problem for me, energy is very low at the moment and I just feel a lot "weaker" than I did coming into this. I don't really recognise 37 yr old me up the mountains anymore. Juggling all this life stuff and treatment and hormone upset in your thirties is no joke - I wish I could retire! The house is a constant tip too. It's ever so slightly overwhelming being a human! Anyway, I'm hoping once it's done, and I so ..read more

Taxol X huge drop white blood cells

Good morning. I am two days away from my second Taxol infusion (had my first one last Thursday) and I had a HUGE drop in my white blood cell count. A week ago it was 11.6, now it's 4.2. Before, I was doing AC every two weeks, taking the Neulasta shot. I'm very worried because I work full time, 6 days a week, where I'm exposed to a lot of people. Has anyone experienced a huge drop in their WBC while on Taxol? Do oncologists give us any shots to increase the WBC in case it drops? I'm sorry. I'm just super anxious here at work. I will speak to my oncologist about it. I'm just beyond anxious. su ..read more

Herceptin/Perjeta and Lactose Intolerance?

I'm wondering if this is related to my treatment or not, and if anyone else here has experienced it. I'm on H/P long term and have been receiving infusions every 3 weeks for about a year now. My major side effect is diarrhea, which is honestly my GI tract's default response to anything it doesn't like anyway, so I should have seen that coming. It's currently well controlled by taking one Immodium every morning. Unless, I have noticed, I do something absolutely unhinged like drink a milkshake or eat penne rosa. Mozarella in any quantity also causes me to need the bathroom urgently, but not as ..read more

Does anyone have a list of resources/non-profits to help recently diagnosed patients? Like support groups, wigs, meals, transportation, charities I’m currently located in the Midwest (Chicago specifically) if that helps narrow it down Thanks in advance :) submitted by /u/Purrple_Moose [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Foot surgery during Herceptin

So it looks like I may need foot surgery to fix a fractured 5th metatarsal. The surgeon requires a bunch of pre-op tests (chest x-ray, EKG, lots of bloodwork) which is firing up scanxiety — I’m not worried that she’ll find cancer but given what happened after a mammogram, I’m just fearful I won’t “pass” somehow. Has anyone had non-cancer surgery — and especially orthopedic surgery — while still in treatment? I’ve got 8 more Herceptin infusions to go, and while I wouldn’t think it would be a problem, I’ve been surprised before! submitted by /u/MDAccount [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

DCIS on biopsy and incidental MRI finding

I have DCIS on my right breast proven on biopsy with no symptoms except a milk bleb thing on my nipple. After the MRI they called and said I had extensive amounts of DCIS but still no tumor. My lymph nodes all look good but they found a small spot on one of my left ribs. I’m extremely frightened at the idea of stage 4 cancer. How likely is this just an incidental finding? I’m having a chest CT on Thursday. submitted by /u/Dry-Hearing7475 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How did you find your oncologist? What to ask them during first meeting?

I was diagnosed on Apr 4 and was given the names of multiple general Surgeons who specialize in breast cancer. I thouroughly reviewed their bios, where they worked from, reviews, etc and picked one. I saw them on Apr 9. The General surgeon gave me multiple names of plastic reconstruction specialists and I researched them and went to meet one and liked them. So two doctors identified. The general surgeon also gave me the name of a couple oncologists, but only one of them spends time near where I live and I don’t want to drive far, so I just made an appointment even though I am unsure about the ..read more
