So I am newly pregnant and have questions about pre-sales field work I'm starting back up in a week. First, I'm wanting to know safety of the marking paint. Is it something I need to avoid entirely or is it something I can still do, but wear a good mask or respirator? Second, if anyone has had experience being pregnant and the general strenuous work. I have 3 seasons under my belt and I go to the gym 3 times a week in the off season and lift heavy, so it won't be any new stress on my body to do the work. That's all, thanks!

Recently just found a home made log cabin about a mile off any roads. Its about 10'x10' and just the walls and inside floor were built. The roof doesn't appear it was every built and looks like its been undisturbed for a couple years now. Was pretty cool to come across though.

I'd love some advice on my potential idea to switch careers into forestry. It's been an idea of mine for some time and I'm thinking of pulling the trigger. I have most recently tried a few jobs in tech using my cs degree, living in big expensive cities, and I hate my life.
I am 28F, and my educational background is a bachelor's in computer science along with some environmenral science/GIS coursework...and I also have about 4 years of work experience in the oil&gas industry in Northern BC and AB. I'm a super outdoorsy person and have worked, traveled and explored extensively in remote loca ..read more

I currently hold a BSc in Forestry from an Irish University. I want to spend some time working in the US (2+ years) somewhere but I'm unsure what kind of value European degrees have in the US in regards to forestry. Can anyone give me a quick summation if I should be arsed looking in the US or start looking elsewhere?
Any and all advice appreciated. Also I'm willing to learn the imperial system if that's a deal breaker lol

Wondering if anyone has any info regarding Region 6 after the FS regional call today as it pertains to the recent budget cut and new hires and recent applications. I’ve got a buddy in Idaho and says in general that seasonal hires are going to be prioritized.
Iunfortunately for me I’m more concerned about permanent ecologist positions…
Thanks for info!

So, I have a pretty big issue. I just joined up (two weeks ago) with a tribal forestry department out of Washington state. Its only 3 people, 4 including me. They just had their boss retire and he was in 70’s with over 40ish years of forestry work. He sorta held everything close to chest and wasn’t good at disseminating his knowledge. He did most of the cruising and planning and well everything. So most of my coworkers don’t know the first thing about forestry. Only one of my coworkers even has a forestry degree. I myself am not even a forester but trained as an ecologist however I have worke ..read more
