Has anyone tried FODMAP Diet? My specialist recommended it to me, but I’m sceptical about it…I paid for the app, so I get some guidance. It’s very difficult for me to eat anything and there is currently no dietitian to help me, I keep losing weight due to diarrhoea, feels like I’m on my own, I get no help… submitted by /u/Big_eyes29 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Made it to the midpoint of my first prep. Colyte prep, drank the first half at 5pm. Next half is at 6am. (Glasses every 10min) Went into the bathroom at 6pm, got out at 10:30. It was constant, just nonstop. Slowed down a little towards the end, but feels like another round is ready. It got more tolerable towards the end.. once I burned through my My concern: I am nowhere near cleaned out. In terms of bulk yes, but it's still just a chocolate fountain with the occasional clear bit. Other things to note: -my face looks way thinner. -my stomach has never indented like this before... It's sitting ..read more

the past week or 2 i’ve not been eating much due to feeling nauseous constantly after eating. not eating makes the nausea worse but then when i do eat the nausea and hunger doesn’t go away. it’s really confusing me and i’m scared to eat a large meal incase i’ll feel more sick or be in pain. For context i’m not diagnosed with anything atm but i’ve had scans and endoscopy+colonoscopys and so many tests and they still don’t know what wrong with me. Every stool sample has had high calprotectin levels and i’m currently waiting on my results for the most recent stool sample. Im a full time college ..read more

Can Campylobacter Lead to IBD?

This year in February I contracted Campylobacter (confirmed via stool sample) when in Spain for work after eating steak tartare. When I returned to the UK, the infection really took hold and I experienced fever, dehydration, stomach pains, and stools were loose and yellow with some blood and mucus streaks. I couldn’t eat anything but plain food during this time. Once my stool sample was processed (23rd Feb) it had been around 11/12 days with worsening symptoms, so the doctor prescribed Clarithromycin 500mg, twice a day for a week. The medicine seemed to work and afterwards I continued life as ..read more

High calprotectin, stomach pain, doctors can't find anything. What to do?

Calprotectin ranges from 150 to 850 (latest). I've had, following a visit to my GI, an MRI, ultrasound, colonoscopy, breath test. Only thing I haven't had is a pill cam afaik. But they've returned nothing. Everything is absolutely normal apart from the high calprotectin and the pain, and a lot of gas and some mucus. Pain comes and goes for weeks at a time. In terms of working out what is going on, is there anything else i can do? Am I right to visit the GI doctor and just...ride out as many tests as he can think up until we hit on something? Or should I be seeing another type of doctor? su ..read more

Hi! I'm an Italian university student and an IBD patient (I've had Ulcerative Colitis since I was 18 months old). I'm writing my thesis on IBD accessibility, with a focus on language barriers. This is why I need your help! If you have IBD and have been to Italy for any reason (studying, work, dual citizenship, vacation), could you tell me a bit about your experience? Were you able to get medication? How was it with the national health system? Did you face any language barriers? The more detailed, the better! And if you have any sources that you think might be useful, feel free to drop them he ..read more

How likely is it for IBD to be in the small intestine after normal colonoscopy and biopsies?

Struggling with pain in my small intestine over the last year. Had a normal colonoscopy with biopsies taken as far as the TI. Ruled out SIBO. Normal faecal calprotectin. Just wondered how likely it is that I could still have IBD hiding in my small intestine? Any help would be much appreciated. Thank you. submitted by /u/mymainaccount1993 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
