Hello everyone! Can you believe its halfway through September already? Today my ice cream creation was an interesting one. It is an almond ice cream swirled with lemon jam. Was it tasty? No. Will I make it again? No again. Interested? Keep reading! This week’s flavor marks the second week of failed flavors. It is quite disappointing, but it’s not enough to stop me! I don’t know if there is a flavor bad enough to stop me from trying again the next time. Making It So to make almond ice cream, I was supposed to use an electric mixer to whip up almond paste aka marzipan. But the marzipan just flew ..read more

Hello everybody! I am back with the last of the Wisconsin flavors today. I know it is pretty despicable that I am about a month behind, but I am close to being all caught up! This flavor idea is brought to you from another excellent blog called Camellia’s Cottage. She wrote about Alabama Pralines and challenged me to make an ice cream with them. And that I did! Keep reading to see how it turned out!  So my idea for this flavor was to make a simple caramel ice cream and load it up with the delectable pecan pralines. Simple right? Not really.  Making it First, I made the pralines ..read more

Hello everyone! I am alive and still loving ice cream. There has been many changes since we last chatted, so keep reading for an update as well as for the summer’s best ice cream: carrot cake! The Making So first things first, lets talk ice cream. This flavor was heralded as the grand slam of the summer. It’s a carrot cake ice cream with cream cheese frosting swirls. In a word: delectable. To make this flavor, I first had to puree carrots and milk. It started a little rough, because I had neither a vegetable peeler nor a blender. But I made do and successfully made carrot flavored milk. From t ..read more

Hello everyone, I am very sorry I could not post on my normal day this week. When I tried to put my photos of this flavor onto my laptop it came up with a strange error. A week and some money later, it has been fixed.  So I had to make sure my first priority was to report this flavor to you. This week, I am presenting to you a mocha mint brownie ice cream, or as I like to call it, Zippity Mint. I was impressed with the flavor of this ice cream and the amount of depth that accompanied each spoonful. As I told you last week, I did a series of Snapchat videos chronicling my making of th ..read more

HAPPY NATIONAL ICE CREAM DAY! Phew, I had to get that out there. Welcome everyone! What a holiday today is! There is no excuse, get yourself out there and get yourself a cone. Today I am bringing you an ice cream that was a funky idea, but a humdrum flavor. Hence the non-enthusiastic title. I’ve got a lot to share today so keep on reading. This flavor is a roasted strawberry balsamic ice cream. Crazy idea right? Really playing on that salty and sweet thing. It didn’t quite turn out that way. Making It First things first, I had to roast sliced strawberries in balsamic. Once they were thoroughly ..read more

Hello everyone and thank you for coming back to my blog this week. We are having quite a heat wave here in Wisconsin and I am happily indoors with a fan. This week’s flavor was something I have had written in my book of ideas for probably over a year now. I just never got around to it making it, but when I told some co-workers about this flavor idea they unanimously agreed that it sounded delicious. This flavor is a Irish cream based ice cream with lots of cookie dough pieces swirled in. I think it might have been one of my best and most well-executed flavors that was completely gone within a ..read more

Hello everybody, I am back with a flavor to share with you all (or y’all if you’d rather). Today I am bringing you a white peach rose ice cream that did not turn out well. There I said it. It is not that good. But I’m gonna write about it anyway! I tried making peach ice creams last summer and struggled with them too. I don’t know what it is about peach but we just don’t get along. Last time I tried to do a genuine peach flavor that I always imagined in the middle of the summer. This time I was determined to bring you a white peach rose a flavor that I imagine would be all the rage. Clear ..read more

Hello everyone! I am back with a new delicious flavor of ice cream today! White chocolate aloha is a white chocolate ice cream with toasted macadamia nuts. As of writing this, it is completely eaten! I’ve been a busy bee lately. Between working, taking care of Fiona and babysitting I barely have a chance to realize how tired I am. But it is a good tired. I’m happy where I am. This flavor was easy to make. I heated the milk, whipped the egg yolks and sugar and then tempered the milk into them. After the custard formed, I strained it through into the cream and white chocolate chunks. It melted n ..read more

Welcome one and all! Today I’ve got a brand new flavor to share with you that I think you’ll love. It is called Home Country Pie. Allow me to explain: my maternal grandmother is from Ireland, which we sometimes call the home country. When my sister, grandmother and uncle went there a couple of years ago, they had this dessert called Banoffee Pie. Tara came home and couldn’t talk enough about this pie and set about finding a recipe to remake it for us. Banoffee Pie is a banana toffee pie that just knocks your socks off. I remember going back for a second slice and finding it all finished alread ..read more

Hello everybody! The weather out here seems to have mellowed out into normal Wisconsin, cold for us Pennsylvanians! Fiona is wrapped in a blanket as I’m writing this. Today’s flavor is quite a different and unusual one and it came as a long-awaited request from a friend at work. Seth is somebody who I really look forward to trying all my ice creams because he gives wonderful feedback. He really pinpoints the good and bad points of this flavor. So I finally gave in a made a black licorice flavor because it is his favorite. I am not a fan of black licorice and always leave the black jellybeans a ..read more
