Pedro Grifol: The scapegoat, or the real problem? | Jason Miller/Getty Images I’m struggling to find anything witty to say these days The White Sox had a team meeting this afternoon, however, Pedro Grifol didn’t feel the need to elaborate on what was said. I’m sure it’s exactly what the team needed to get pumped up, though, right? Wrong! What?? A loss after the big team meeting? I’m starting to question if this guy is really that obsessed. Nice job Nastrini #WhiteSox pic.twitter.com/sBUPfo0eHZ — Nick Murawski (@Nick_GGTB) April 16, 2024 Let’s start with some positives — the pitching! Nick ..read more

No number is as sacred as 42 pic.twitter.com/pvfZEnnLqc — Chicago White Sox (@whitesox) April 15, 2024 The very pitiful White Sox are back in Chicago to take on the surprisingly good Kansas City Royals. Between the nice weather and the WBNA Draft, it’s doubtful many people will be watching. A few transactions have taken place today: pic.twitter.com/yDjRteQ7IA — Chicago White Sox (@whitesox) April 15, 2024 The biggest story is that top prospect Nick Nas ..read more

Simone Biles’ husband and new Chicago Bear Jonathan Owens could probably play for the White Sox at this rate. | Jamie Sabau/Getty Images The season just started, and it’s already over Dear reader, it is April 15 and the Chicago White Sox are the worst team in baseball. Even worse than the Miami Marlins, who employ former White Sox Avisaíl García, Jake Burger and Tim Anderson. Worse than the Colorado Rockies, who haven’t tried to field a competitive team since before masking was a thing. Worse than the Kansas City Royals, who seem to be our favorite team to steal from. But at least unlike the o ..read more

A daily, or occasional, update on how this horrendous club measures up to MLB seasons past Between the very early revival of the Race to the Bottom series and our new Futility Watch in the recaps, the relentlessly horrible White Sox are making us work overtime to keep up. And if you are avid follower of South Side Sox on Twitter AND a dutiful recap reader/poll voter, nothing in this story will be new. But for those of you skipping some stories here for your own mental health or simply not down with the Musky odor of Twitter, this is a good place to collect our credits roll of awfulness in the ..read more

Future Hall of Famer starter Red Faber helped the White Sox to a 2-0 start 109 years ago today. He also improved to 2-0. How? Find out below. The South Siders count the Browns down and out 1915 It was the biggest shutout in team history, as the White Sox pasted St. Louis, 16-0. The Pale Hose put up seven runs before the home Browns even got to bat, and scored in every inning but the third, seventh and eighth. It was just a 15-hit assault with no homers, so how did the Sox score 16? With help from five Browns errors and six stolen bases! Buck Weaver went 3-for-6 with a double and two runs, paci ..read more

Carlos Pérez went 2-for-3 on the day, scoring three times and driving in four runs. | Laura Wolff/Charlotte Knights A one-win day (Knights) on the farm, with (mostly) solid bullpen performances across the board — and some defense that could use a bit of work Charlotte Knights 9, Jacksonville Jumbo Shrimp 4 (Gameday box) (Statcast box) The Knights get the W in back-to-back games thanks to a six-run fifth inning to steal the lead back from the Jumbo Shrimp. Johan Domínguez didn’t have the best start, giving up eight hits and getting beat up a bit in the third and fourth innings to put the Shrimp ..read more

Korey Lee — whose average is actually better than .200 this season — provides an accurate representation of the season. | David Banks-USA TODAY Sports A sweep puts Chicago 11 games under — in mid-April Another terrible loss puts the Chicago White Sox at 2-13 and gave the Cincinnati Reds the sweep. At this point, the team is breaking all the bad records you can think of. Let’s recap the disaster. The White Sox actually had a chance in the bottom of the first inning after a leadoff walk by Robbie Grossman and a single from Andrew Vaughn, but back-to-back strikeouts ended the threat. That’s what ..read more

How many more games will the White Sox go without a win? | Patrick Gorski-USA TODAY Sports How much worse will this dumpster fire get? Today the Cincinnati Reds and Chicago White Sox will play the finale of this three-game set as the South Siders look to at the least just score a run, and at the most, actually win. Mike Soroka and Graham Ashcraft will go head-to-head this afternoon. Soroka is 0-1 in three games this year with a 6.34 ERA and 1.57 WHIP. He isn’t the biggest strikeout guy, as he only has six in 14 2⁄3 innings pitched. Ashcraft is one of Cincinnati’s young pitchers, making his deb ..read more
