Some nights it feels like it’s Elly De La Cruz’s world and we’re all just living in it. Tuesday night was one of those nights as the 22-year-old made several highlight reel plays in the field, picked up his league best 12th stolen base, and he homered as the Cincinnati Reds topped the Philadelphia Phillies 8-1 to even up the series.

The Cincinnati Reds had no answers for Ranger Suarez as he continued hit shutout streak. The Philadelphia hitters had enough answers for the Reds pitchers, though, as the Phillies scored seven runs in a shutout victory to start the 4-game series at Great American Ball Park.

The Cincinnati Reds may have gotten some good news yesterday after Frankie Montas was struck by a line drive and had to exit the game when his x-rays came back negative for any fractures. But things did not go as well as they would have hoped as today they announced that he’s going to head to the 15-day injured list with a right elbow contusion. Taking his place on the roster for the time being will be right-handed reliever Casey Legumina.
Cincinnati’s going to miss out on three starts from Frankie Montas here, but that third start may just be like if he got pushed back by a few days if he’s c ..read more

Cincinnati Reds starting pitcher Frankie Montas was hit by a 101 MPH line drive on his pitcher arm by Taylor Ward in the top of the 1st inning on Sunday afternoon. He did recover enough to pick up the ball and throw Ward out at first base. But the training staff came out to check him out and Montas exited the game. As he walked off of the mound and to the dugout he didn’t move his right arm, holding it at a 90° angle against his body while heading to the dugout and subsequently the tunnel to the clubhouse.

The Cincinnati Reds got a go-ahead grand slam off of the bat of Tyler Stephenson in the bottom of the 1st inning. They never looked back after that as they got strong relief pitching from Nick Martinez and Alexis Diaz to seal the win and guarantee the club a series victory with a chance to complete the sweep on Sunday.
