The first edition of the women’s volleyball open League Championship, was launched yesterday evening, in a step that comes within the plan developed by the Qatar Volleyball Association for the women’s volleyball support program. The Qatar Volleyball Association (QVA) announced the launch of the first Women’s Open Championship for the 2023-2024 sports season. On a day of mixed fortunes, Qatar’s beach volleyball pair of Ahmed Tijan & Cherif Younousse cruised into the semi-finals but the volleyball team’s gold medal hopes were cut short ruthlessly by Iran at the Hangzhou Asian Games on Monday.  The Qatari volleyball team qualified for the semi-finals of the 19th Asian Games Hangzhou after defeating Pakistan 3-0 (26 – 24, 25 – 19, 23 – 25, 25 – 18). In a high-level match, the Qatari team succeeded in winning the first and second halves but lost the third half by two points. Qatar volleyball team will face Brazil at the end of Sep. in the opening of its matches in (Group A) as part of the qualifiers for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
