Based on your experience, what changes would you propose to make hiring processes more accessible? What would an ideal accessible hiring process look like, starting with the application all the way until onboarding? I'm trying to learn as much as possible to hopefully make a difference in the talent acquisition space. Any help would be very appreciated! Thank you.

Hi all. I'm making this post to ask for support but also just to rant. I have chronic pain in my legs, knees, and feet due to arthritis in my joints, but it's unclear what causes the general pain in my legs. I was doing really well from about November through January, but then stuff went downhill fast and I had a small knee surgery this past Thursday. It was for a torn lateral meniscus called a knee arthroscopy. The pain and recovery have not been bad at all, and it was my very first surgery and being in the hospital. So at work, I needed a lot of time off these past few months. I did have FM ..read more

Hi all,
There is no such thing as a bad idea...
A close friend of mine is currently having to go to hospital for some checkups, and minor operations.
Whillst she is there, she has a bedside commode. Due to her currently range of movement, she can lift herself up and swivel, and get to the edge of the bed... its very difficult for her to then support herself or transition to the commode successfully.
I know that in hospitals people can have something inserted to alleviate this issue. Due to some of the conditions she has, that sort of intrusion would create more complications.
Is there any sor ..read more

Okay, this is just a vent… I’m 50 and I’ve been disabled all of my life (wheelchair-user). I’m no stranger to ableist strangers. I’ve grown to just expect dumb shit to happen, like cutting in front of me at Starbucks with a “Ohhh, I didn’t know you were in line.” Or parking in a blue zone for a “quick” run inside a store. Blah blah yada yada.
In the last month, though, I found out that my long-time friend (30+ years) and my cousin are pretending to be disabled for the PERKS.
Over spring break, I went to Disney with my cousin & found out she’s been pretending her 9 yr. has autism so they c ..read more

Hi there, I recently broke my shoulder and tore my rotator cuff, and it sounds like it will be a long road to recovery. I am struggling to type with two hands for an extended period, but my job is computer based - any recommendations on speech-to-text software?

I used to be able to watch someone do something once and then do it myself. I was a dancer and could pick up combos quickly.
Now I have brain damage
I'm a hairdresser and got a new job that's like a stylist in training/assistant (I was an assistant before).
It's really frustrating because I'm struggling to learn stuff now. It's taking me longer. They have to find different ways to explain stuff because I'm not understanding.

My 76 yr old mother fell down the stairs at her house and damaged her spinal cord. She will need a powered wheelchair.
She does not have the strength or coordination to transfer to a standard car, so it looks like I'm shopping for a wheelchair accessible van to go along with a new one-level, elevator accessible condo.
BraunAbility is the biggest major supplier of modified vans that I've seen in the DC area.
EVERY one I've seen in the area is a Chrysler product, either a Pacifica or Town and Country minivan.
As an engineer and mechanic I don't like that. I haven't had the best of luck with cri ..read more

Sorry just needing somewhere to vent and rant.
I have been told that I shouldn't be using disabled toilets, even by my own parents because I don't look disabled/they can't see anything wrong with me, but when those people see a person with a hidden disability using disabled toilets, how would they know that the person hasn't got anything wrong with their genital area? Did they look?

Does anyone else struggle to see or suffer under LED lights? I'm (38F) going through the process via VR of becoming officially disabled because the lighting everywhere is so, so bad I literally cannot see. They've even replaced street lights with LEDs now. I can see the flicker from everything and get ghosting images and they all stack up as I move through a room or move my eyes around. Within a few seconds my vision is a pulsing swarming mess of images all layered on each other in fading brown colors, and it just stays that way until I escape. Extremely hard to work in let alone do anything ..read more
