read quite a few of these studies/trials about b. infantis supplementing of babies. i'm seeing strong results in getting a pioneer base of bifids going in their guts. early term babies really showed well in their trial. baby dysbiosis is a thing.
b. infantis sounds like best of breed solution for that and for establishing a good gut.
baby gut dysbiosis sets one up for a wide range of issues, including ibd
b. longum is a close cousin and it has some good pubmed stuff too. it's...

I'm been doing a little research on short-chain fatty acids and specifically butyrate (one of them). It turns out that impaired oxidation of butyrate may play a role in Ulcerative Colitis and both butyrate enemas and diets designed to increase butyrate production have helped UC patients (click through the links above for more information and the studies/sources).
Has anyone here been given butyrate enemas or had any of this...

Hi Everyone, I am new here. Just wanted to tell my story quickly. I was diagnosed with Crohn's disease in 2009. I suffered with it for a year before I went in for help because I didn't have health insurance.(Husband is self employed and insurance was too expensive for us at the time) But when I got diagnosed, I didn't want to believe it. I also didn't want to take the drugs. I figured that there had to be some natural way to make it go away. So I tried taking...

Methotrexate impacts conserved pathways in diverse human gut bacteria leading to decreased host immune activation
We show that MTX broadly alters the human gut microbiota. Drug sensitivity varied across strains but the mechanism of action against DHFR appears conserved between mammalian and bacterial cells. RA patient microbiotas were sensitive to MTX and changes in gut bacterial taxa and...

I have been taking Cholestyramine Powder packets for 20 years as a bile acid sequesterant. For almost that entire time I took two packets per day, but 5 months ago I started taking one packet each day per my doctor's recommendation. The one packet a day is effective in controlling my yellow watery diarrhea. Last November I was in the Emergency Room and my bowels were backed up, the two packets a day of Cholestyramine was constipating me badly. I was just on the OptumRx home delivery website...

Hello,
My GI is not necessarily recommending surgery, but feels it’s my best option at this point. Looking for some feedback from those who have had a bowel resection.
Diagnosed with Crohns during my 45 yo colonoscopy that included a stricture that the Doc could not get the camera past to peek in my intestine. Limited symptoms, or I was so use to them it was just part of life. I don't eat fruit or veggies so excess fiber is not an issue. Greasy food has the typical results within the...

Hi, I’m 19 and was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in January during a 10 day hospital stay for diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and severe abdominal pain. Originally they put me on mesalamine both orally and rectally (in addition to prednisone) and while my symptoms did improve I never stop seeing blood in my stool and after getting home from the hospital I noticed joint pain in my hips first but then in my knees and ankles. After I started having debilitating flairs of joint pain especially...
