Perth isn’t short of a brewery; it’s inner-city brewing scene is buzzing right now! In the heart of Subiaco’s urban landscape, you’ll find newcomer Golden West Brewing Co. Not just a place to grab a meal; it’s a cool hangout where the vibes are as delicious as the food and brews. So, next time you see a Hay Street sign saying “Beer Here”, be sure to follow it. We stumbled upon this spot on a sunny afternoon, after a wander down leafy Rokeby Road. The new spot has brought back an old Perth beverage company, Golden West Aerated Water Company. Once making soft drinks in the 1890’s, in the 1960’s ..read more

Living in Tapping for 15 years, its sod’s law that as soon as I move away, my old ‘hood gets a super cool eatery! There’s something nostalgic about cruising down familiar roads, especially when those roads lead to a drool-worthy burger joint. We popped in for a pint at The Duke, a place I once called my local, and made a pit stop at Perth Burger Collective. It’s found in a cool little retail row, just behind Coles Banksia Grove. I made a mental note to check out Hunter and Fleur for a coffee too. I’d heard on the foodie grapevine this neighborhood spot is by the guys behind Wanneroo brunch st ..read more

Brown Street Grill, a new-ish eatery by Chef Stewart Laws is found deep in East Perth, at the Bright Tank Brewing Co. It recently celebrated its first anniversary, as did I, with a certain Mr H. Both of us love a mouthwatering steak, and Mr H loves a craft beer, so a celebratory lunch at this trendy spot made very good sense! Found between Claisebrook Train Station and Claisebrook Cove, Bright Tank Brewing Co is a walkable distance to Optus Stadium. This makes the brew pub a great pre-event meet-up spot. On the day we were lunching there, many of the purple army had that exact idea ..read more

I’ve been daydreaming about taking a blissful bath for years. Soaking in a bath, for me, is time very well spent. Somewhere I can truly escape without any distractions – especially those of the electronic kind. Australia’s southwest is another place I love to escape to. An intoxicating haven of craggy coastlines, bushland wilderness, and prestigious vineyards. Whatever your idea of a blissful break is (be it foodie, nature, or for relaxation), it is sure to unfold at Melo Studios Dunsbrough. Review of Melo Studios Dunsborough While Melo Studios lured me in with the promise of a sensational soa ..read more

Olá Tupí! This cheeky ‘lil South American inspired restaurant is tucked away in Perth’s oldest heritage building. The Queen Street spot, formerly the fabulous Flour Factory, is now home of the vibrant ARARA bar. I was excited to check out Tupi at ARARA Perth, as I’ve not eaten a lot of authentic Brazilian food in the past. A drizzly winter’s night in Perth, was soon forgotten as we stepped into this buzzing night spot. As well as the main bar ARARA, there’s the boutique 60-seater Tupi restaurant tucked in underneath the grand timber staircase. Tupi served us, that’s me and my lovely friend ..read more

A “problem” I’ve long since faced, as a food writer, is always being on the hunt for something new. The downside of this, is that I rarely revisit restaurants and cafes – even if they knock my socks off. One exception to this is Laika Coffee Lathlain. Their brilliantly thought-out brunch menu has me returning time and again. Hidden in the heart of Lathlain, bustling Laika is a neighborhood haunt that makes me wish I lived within walking distance. Found amongst a cool row of retail spaces, including a quirky gift shop, an artisan baker, Pilates studio and more, this little pocket of Perth is f ..read more

Returning to Perth this March is a unique WA food event! WA’s Great Graze is a celebration of West Aussie produced food and drink through sharing platters with family and friends. The delish event is also a great big “thank you” to our hard-working farmers and producers for providing us with an incredible bounty of food. WA’s Great Graze is hosting many events, as well as encouraging Perth foodies to platter it up at home, with West Aussie products. Plus, you can win a trip to the Southern Forests! WA’s Great Graze has been created as a celebration of our state’s rich agriculture. Our state ..read more

The popularity of tiny cabin stays is showing no signs of slowing down. In fact, slowing down is half the point of booking a tiny stay. Western Australia is now home to Unyoked, the eco-friendly and simple tiny cabins, that are found worldwide. Adventure seekers, Eco-warriors and people seeking a digital detox will all appreciate this spot. I well and truly fall into the last category. It’s almost impossible to get by in 2023 without having a smartphone in your pocket beeping away for its attention. As well as having an online presence through my food and travel blog, my day job in Digital Ma ..read more

Almost four years to the day, after first falling for Gnarabup’s White Elephant Beach Cafe in 2019, I finally made it back to one of my all-time favourite brunch spots. This trip to Margs was different. I swapped lazy lunches at leafy wineries, for rugged coastal terrain and lounging on sandy south-west beaches. Mr H and I were staying at the brand new Unyoked tiny cabin, so we just HAD to drop by White Ele for a brekkie (or two!). I’m always blown away by the pretty as a picture seascapes in this region of WA. And especially that there aren’t many spots where you can dine by the sea. The in ..read more
