(From the American Optometric Association) Here are four tips to safely view a solar eclipse: Use approved solar eclipse viewers. The only safe way to view a partially eclipsed sun is through special-purpose solar filters, such as “eclipse glasses” or viewers that meet international standard ISO 12312-2 for safe viewing. Sunglasses, smoked glass, unfiltered telescopes or magnifiers, and polarizing filters are unsafe. If you can’t find eclipse viewers, build a pinhole projector to watch the eclipse. For Dr. Clements, eye care is very personal. When Dr. Clements was a junior in high school, he quit baseball because he couldn’t see the ball in the outfield anymore. It was one of his favorite sports. His team went on to win back-to-back state championships. Dr. Clements says a trip to the eye doctor would have kept him in the game. He says it’s this experience that drove him to pursue eye care. He doesn’t want anyone’s vision to be a reason for missing out on anything in life. This led him to begin his pursuit of eye care at Luther College in Decorah, Iowa where he earned his BS in Biology ..read more

We’ve heard from multiple patients that laser eye correction changed their life. That’s why we are proud partner of TLC Laser Eye Centers. So what is LASIK? It’s safe to say no one likes to get their eyes dilated when they go in for their eye exam. That’s why OPTOS or OPTO Map Imaging is such good news for our patients! OPTOS allows us to see the back of your eye and make sure it is completely healthy without having to dilate your eyes! Hooray! So what’s the catch? There isn’t one. It’s really simple and it doesn’t hurt at all. You just lean forward towards the OPTOS machine and we’ll snap a picture of the back of your eye. That’s it! Unfortunately, not everyone can avoid dilation. There are certain conditions where the OPTOS won’t work. To learn ..read more
