Earlier this month, we were tasked with creating our very own campaign for the launch of adidas originals’ brand new silhouette – the DEERUPT – a contemporary take on adidas heritage. This ‘disruptively simple’ sneaker takes inspiration from a mixture of things, including the brands 80s archive, architecture and urban planning. Last week I popped down to visit the Converse ‘One Star Hotel’. The set-up was a total sensory overload. The closest feeling that I can compare it to, is exhilarating chaos. Musicians, artists, brands and the cream of Generation Y (- aka a generation raised by the internet, okay primarily Leo Mandella) came together to work collaboratively with Converse to pull off what might be one of the most creative and inspired promotional devices I’ve ever seen in my life. I was lucky enough to spend this Christmas in New York city. I haven’t been for about 12 years and last time I was there I stayed in Manhattan and did the more obvious tourist stuff. As soon as it gets cold, if you see me out and about, I’ll be rocking the same The North Face – Nuptse Jacket that my boyfriend surprised me with 5 winters ago. adidas is back with a new game-changing silhouette: Prophere. With 2017 being the ‘Year of the EQT’ and a great year it’s been for that silhouette, I’m pleased to see something new arrive just in time for 2018. Featuring a full knit upper with pops of vibrant red throughout and fused to the chunkiest of soles – think Huarache meets primeknit with an Air Max 90 fluorescent touch. These are definitely a conversation starter and I am eager to see how adidas develop this style further.
