I will be the first one to acknowledge that fighting Parkinson’s requires a lot of hope and a lot of faith. However, I also will be the first one to tell you that no matter how much hope and faith you have in your recovery, hope and faith without positive action are meaningless in Parkinson’s recovery. Think about this: 1. If you hope to pass a test in a subject where you have no previous knowledge and you have faith in yourself, but you never study and learn the material, what is your chance of success? 2. If you stand at the Par 3 tee and hope for a hole-in-one and have faith in your abilit ..read more

This final installment for Parkinson’s Awareness Month 2024 focuses on awareness of your recovery. That’s right, being aware of what you are doing, how you are doing it, and why you are doing it in relationship to your recovery. How much of your life are you “going through the motions” without a present awareness of what you are doing, how you are doing it, or why you are doing it? Doing the Parkinson’s Recipe for Recovery® can fall into that category. Fear of some unknown future can fall into that category. Eating an entire bag of chips while watching TV can fall into that category ..read more

As we discussed in my last post, if you are reading this blog, then you have a different viewpoint of Parkinson’s disease, and thus, a different viewpoint of Parkinson’s awareness. Today, we take the discussion to a higher level. Three years ago, when I announced the year as “2021…the year of faith,” I used the acronym for FAITH as Feeling Aware In The Heart. Here is another look at that concept to raise your awareness even higher. Faith says that you can get better from Parkinson’s. When you have faith in your recovery, then your attitude is an attitude of strength and perseverance. And, wit ..read more

Fighting Parkinson’s, and I am looking forward to…final part

In my two previous “I am looking forward to” blog posts, we discussed the introductory phrase, “I am looking forward to” as a way to move forward in a positive manner, and then taking action to bring to fruition what it is that you are looking forward to occurring in your life. Today, we add in the final part, gratitude. Here we go. The Final Part — Gratitude. The mind wants to judge how well you are doing something, and generally, it will tell you that whatever you are doing, it is not as good as you used to do it. That way of thinking is living in the past and is useless and detrimental in ..read more

In part 1, I explained, “When you think of the introductory phrase, “I am looking forward to” and you review when in life you have used this phrase, almost always, it is used to express excitement about something in the future that you know will occur.” Today we will discuss how positive action on your part is necessary to bring it to fruition. I gave this example two weeks ago: A concert is nearly sold out and you are able to get tickets. This prompts, “I am looking forward to going to the concert.” On the day of the concert, it is necessary for you to take positive action to manifest the en ..read more

I found your book online and read it over the weekend.  I’m grasping for hope but all I seem to be doing is cryi ..read more

Sally and I thank you for all of the wonderful sentiments and birthday wishes to Sally’s mother from the previous blog post. Today, we will review again positive self-fulfilling prophecies and how to help them manifest in your life. In the past, I have discussed having positive self-fulfilling prophecies in your life as opposed to negative self-fulfilling prophecies. A couple of days ago, I was discussing this with our fellow warrior, John in New Jersey, and he suggested that it would be helpful to share the information with all of you as well. Here is an excerpt from a previous blog post: “C ..read more

This is 2024…the Year of Knowing! Today is Sally’s Mother’s 90th birthday. Happy 90th Birthday Mother!!! I have been writing this blog for nearly 14 years. During this time, I have been trying to keep a positive message of faith and hope, but occasionally somebody may express concern that maybe it is false hope. I might as well address it right here today for everybody. I went to Google and typed in false hope. The number 1 listing was Wikipedia, and here is what it had to say. “Hope is the belief in a positive outcome related to events and circumstances in one’s life.” “The term false hope refers to a hope based entirely around a fantasy or an extrem ..read more
