What's the most I C O N I C Jazz Solo of all time? [QUESTION]

I was at a Jazz Jam and someone played Miles Davis' solo on So What and there was a murmur of approval (I think because it was played well but also everyone knew it). What other Jazz solos would have that reaction - solos that are so iconic that most experienced Jazz players would know it more or less note for note? submitted by /u/jamiehenderson1993 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Hi all, I saw some clips on instagram of recent shows on the blue note jazz club and I was wondering if there are some decent quality audio recordings available of recent years? For instance Robert Glasper did quite a few shows there. I did find a Soullive show on archive.org so I guess there should be some more available. submitted by /u/kaminsod038 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Jazz standards copyright - Moon River

Everyone has made covers or performances of Moon River, but do you need a license to do so? My favourite groups do many standards on Spotify, so all of these people have gotten licenses? I am unfamiliar with how these jazz standards are protected copyright wise. submitted by /u/Noot-Weeb [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
