FYI: Insurance Might not Cover TSH, T4, and T3 Testing

Has this happened to many other people? It's in the fine print of my "2021 insurance coverage changes" that TSH testing will not be covered by my insurance. It apparently means all the thyroid tests because none of my TSH, T4, and T3 tests were covered and I had the joy of a large nice surprise bill. Curious if this is common for you all too? submitted by /u/LunarLuner [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I’m 16 year old f, uk, my t4 levels are 31 and my t3 levels are 8, I got told they are just going to moniter it and not give me medication yet as it might go down, is this extremely high? Or isit slightly above normal, I’m just worried as I’ve been google thyroid storm and stuff. My doctor said my levels would have to be like 100 for that to happen, can someone please reassure me? What are other people’s levels, idk why they aren’t medicating me yet. I’m scared. I have been prescribed prepanorl (sorry can’t spell it lol) my testing heart rate is around 85-90, I’m scared it’ll lower it to much ..read more

Hello all, I (26, F) I think I may have a thyroid issue but I worry I have been completely written off by the Endo I went to see recently? I went to my PCP in October : TSH was 0.31 (not fasting) Then in November went to an endo: TSH was 0.56 (fasting) so they didn't seem concerned about the hyperthyroidism anymore bc my T3 (106.9) and T4free (0.89) were fine. I asked why it was so low before and they said probably supplements.. when I don't take any supplements or medications. Symptoms: brain fog, anxiety, weight loss / hard to gain weight, heat intolerance (which is worse now that it's star ..read more

I've experienced rapid heart beats for one month now and tiredeness and I really don't know what is wrong. I'm a 19yo male, I don't drink alcohool nor coffee, I do not smoke. I'm very anxious about my heart because I'm having palpitations recently without making any effort. I've got to the hospital for some tests on my heart and it was fine but I haven't check my thyroid. I'm also really scared of the death ratio caused by this illness and I don't know what to do to calm myself and fix my issue, help me because I'm tired of panic attacks and heart palpitations. submitted by /u/geothermal01 ..read more

How long does it take to see thyroid level improvements using Methimazole in subclinical hyperthyroidism? It's been 2 months but nothing changed. I would say my levels became a little bit worse plus symptoms which I never had prior to medication. Started with TSH 0, ft4 16.58pmol/l (9.15-23.05), ft3:6.42pmol/l (2.43-6.01) and now TSH 0, ft4: 19.20 and ft3:6.89pmol/l. I started out with a Hashimoto diagnosis, but it seems that my hyperthyroid phase is persistent. Is it slightly progressing to worse and my dose needs adjustment? Why was I asymptomatic before and with medication onset I have hyp ..read more

Hypothyroidism to Hyperthyroidism?

In October 2019, my TSH was tested for the first time in years. My TSH came back at 5.7, but my PCP said those weren’t high enough to treat. Fast forward to November 2019 we tested my TSH again. It went up to 10.1. At this point I was put on 50mcg Levothyroxine. About 5 weeks later my TSH was back down to 3.6. I’ve been waiting on a referral to an endocrinologist since. I had my first appointment this past Friday. My endocrinologist said that he has his patients get bloodwork every 6 months. We decided to do them a little bit early, as well as order an ultrasound since one had never been done ..read more

I'm getting blood work done very soon for a sure diagnosis, but I'm still wondering if these symptoms are infact hyperthyroidism symptoms. and ever since I started taking wellbutrin twice a day on top of celexa, these symptoms have gotten worse. -super sensitive to heat -almost always hot, especially in my hands -constantly exhausted no matter now much I sleep (which is a loooot) -get so tired I physically cannot stay awake -weight gain, I feel hungry all of the time -have days where I can't sleep at all -mood swings and as a side note, one of my aunts was diagnosed with graves disease severa ..read more

Does this sound like Hyperthyroidism? (Male)

So I just wanna start saying I know there's probably a lot of this asked here, and I know no one is a doctor. Just if anyone has ever had similar or who has more of an idea could give their opinion. So I recently did some searching on an issue I've had the past year or so that's kind of annoying me and it pointed me in the way of thyroid issues. I have this white scaly patch on both my shins that looks quite unsightly. It's not sure unless I scratch it and the white skin is really dry, dead skin that can be easily peeled off. It's not really an issue other than it looks horrible and I don't w ..read more

Hey guys, My girlfriend was diagnosed with Graves disease, and this is all new to me. I've started to notice the mood swings, her increase heart rate, her wanting to do nothing etc. It's been a struggle for me, as I've never seen her like this until the past couple of months. Is there a book/podcast that you can recommend catered for someone like me that can help support her better on this journey? Thanks..It means a lot. submitted by /u/ggpaul562 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
