First I want to say this community is great and you guys have been if great help, but now it is my turn for help! I am in my mid 30s and have history of Hashimoto (thyroid is currently controlled) and according to my ultrasound result suggests multiple small follicles consistent with PCOS. I have started this investigation due to my irregular periods and very painful breasts. Prolactin has been elevated but not enough for concern. Gynaecologist said my results are ok, could be better for insulin but they are within range. I have VERY high levels of estrogen to progesterone ratio. I was told t ..read more

Back in 2018, I went to a gynecologist who saw I had cysts all over my ovaries. She took blood tests and everything came back normal so she said I didn't have pcos. However over the year, I gained 15kg, started struggling with terrible acne. Had painful, irregular periods and went to another gynecologist in 2019. He said I did have pcos and put me on birth control and that was it. Coinciding with this, I was struggling a lot with my physical health and in 2020 I was diagnosed with an MCTD (autoimmune disease). From 2020 to 2023, I really struggled with walking due to joint pain from MCTD alon ..read more

Hey everyone, new poster here. I was diagnosed nearly two years ago and after a LOT of experimenting my doctor finally got me on some good meds. However, I started taking CBD pills that unfortunately contained grapefruit and threw off my hormones. I'm getting back on track but I've noticed some things I never had before... I had a really bad cyst that made even urination painful but it finally burst at work the other day. So THATS not a problem anymore at least. But I also noticed that literally everytime I even think about an actor or person I find attractive my ovaries feel like I've been g ..read more

Hi all, I was just wondering if anyone has had any luck with using birth control such as the progesterone pill to help lose weight and manage symptoms. I was on the pill for 3 years and during that time had no issues with weight and other symptoms. I am now almost 3 years into trying to concieve and not having any luck. During my time off birth control I have tried all the natural methods to regulate my cycle and keep my weight down l, and whilst they definitely have helped I am still bigger now than I was and would love to lose that weight and feel like myself again even just for a short whi ..read more

Hi all I'm about to go off the pill for the first time since 2013. I've been experiencing many PCOS symptoms in the last few years and more in the last two months regarding my period. I'm pretty sure I had symptoms prior to being on the pill (my mom had endometriosis/PCOS) and a male doctor just put me on the pill due to severe pain and extremely heavy flow. So I'm working now with my new gyno to see what happens and do testing. I'm really scared for the potential pain and changes. Does anyone have some insight on their changes they experienced getting off BC? I also can't take alot of advil ..read more

What if it’s not PCOS

I have high androgens in my blood tests and symptoms related to that (hair thinning, hirstitutism), on that basis my GP diagnosed PCOS. However, no cysts on ultrasound and my period has always been a regular 27 day cycle. While I’ve never tried to get pregnant, mood changes etc make me pretty sure that I ovulate every month (or did before I went on the pill to treat the PCOS). I questioned the diagnosis since I don’t have 2 out of 3 features, and got told “well it will be. And if it’s not, it’s your weight.” This doesn’t sit right with me. Is there anyone out there with PCOS, no cysts, regula ..read more

Hello all. I have PCOS and have been diagnosed since 2016. I have an high A1C, insulin resistance and am considering prediabetic but have never got higher. Last year I got a new PCP and we started talking about weight loss meds. Unfortunately after she put the prescription (she also put ones in for mounjaro, wegovy and whatever else there is) in I was denied coverage from my insurance company (really my mothers but you know what I mean) United Healthcare. For some reason she doesn’t want to write an appeal but I’ll see what I can do about that. After several phone calls I found out that my sp ..read more

Hi all, hope everyone is doing okay. I moved abroad in late 2021 and just moved home yesterday. Over the course of almost 3 years I gained soooo much weight. Maybe 10 pounds. And I'm short so it's really noticeable now. None of my clothes fit me anymore and I'm up a whole jeans size. It's mainly around my belly and thighs but I'm starting to notice my face is puffy as well. I look at photos of myself and get so sad. When I lived abroad, I was consistently at Pilates maybe three times a week and walked everywhere since I didn't have a car but the stress of living alone REALLY got to me, just n ..read more

Hi, I’ve been recently noticing a pattern that around ovulation I have significant heaviness and just an overall super super full feeling in my lower abdomen around when I should be ovulating. The pain seems to also make my vaginal canal feel quite full, painful and tender. Does anyone else experience this type of pain, especially the actual vaginal pain and tenderness around ovulation? It’s confusing me and a semi-new symptom. Thanks! submitted by /u/Final-Garage-2215 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
