Better Speedlight options for crime scene photography?

Greetings, I am employed as a CSI for a relatively large agency that averages about 275-350 calls a year. Currently we’re running a combination of Nikon D750 and D780’s with some older Nikon SB-900 series and new SB-5000 speedlights. The problem we’re running into is the speedlights are malfunctioning or breaking on a constant basis and, government being what it is, we’re having a hard time replacing them with a budget that runs dry by December. Having said that, we’re looking into possibly using some of the cheaper non-Nikon speedlights but I have no experience with them. Is anyone running a ..read more

So I graduate may 8th with a crime scene technology/forensic science AS degree with another certification in CSI and obviously I’ve been looking for jobs for the longest. In early January of this year I applied for an evidence technician job to maybe get my foot in the door so I can get into CSI. They replied back to me a few weeks ago and since then I’ve done multiple forms, went in for a CVSA, I guess it turned out fine because then an HR lady called me back and gave me more forms to do and now this week I’m doing more forms and references to begin the background investigation part. Is this ..read more

Will studying a general science degree with a major in chemistry set me back or put me a bit behind if I want to work in forensic chemistry? I want to move to Victoria (Australia) and study at the University of Melbourne and I'm not really sure what there are in terms of internships in Victoria as I don't live there currently, but Victoria Police doesn't offer anything like that (they say so on their website), what other ways could I gain a more specific skill set (if needed) if the police don't offer that kind of thing. Where should I be looking to gain experience while studying? Will studyi ..read more
