So someone hit my car in the middle of the night and I had to get my side mirror replaced through my insurance. Now Lexus nexus is reporting that I was in a not at fault “accident”. My insurance provider is telling me “in the insurance world all claims are considered a accident” Is this correct or am I being gaslit into not looking into it further ? submitted by /u/yasmeennaa [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

So stupidly I forgot to change the address on my motor insurance when we moved house at the end of last year. I did change it on my V5C and for car tax, but it just slipped my mind. Our new address is literally one road across from our old address. Yesterday when reversing out our drive I clipped into the rear of my neighbours new car. I reported it through to my insurance in any case as the costs could rack up it seems. I realised when reporting it through my address was not my new address with my insurer. They noted this and changed it but said they would have to refer to underwriters due t ..read more

Venue fallen through due to insurance - help! Really hoping someone can advise. This relates to insurance/weddings in England. My partner and I are looking to get married in August. We've not long been engaged but need to move quickly as her mother has terminal cancer We found the perfect venue, a stately home by a lake, near to her parents. They haven't done weddings before but were very accommodating. It sleeps 16 but would allow 50 day guests. They've just let us know they can no longer be our venue, as their property insurance doesn't allow events. They were very disappointed/surprised by ..read more

Kitchen fire + baby items

We had a small kitchen fire - only real fire damage is to the stove, microwave and cabinets, but there was smoke and soot throughout the house thanks to the ac fan blowing it through the vents. (Everyone is okay) We have a baby in the house and an adjuster (?) came through and noted some soot on a baby swing and said that since it was a baby item, it'd be a total loss. (I'm not actually sure if it was an adjustor we were just getting ideas of how bad the damage was and it was an offhand comment). I'm just curious as to why that might be and what else I should claim since baby things seem to b ..read more

[MI, USA] Does my partner need to add me to their auto insurance policy when we move states?

Looking for more information on this as someone who has never been a car owner or bought an insurance policy. We are moving to Michigan, and I will need access to a car for work everyday, while my partner is much more flexible in this regard. They own a car, but I don’t. When we move to the state, they will have to purchase a Michigan auto policy. Is the only way to drive their car and be properly covered for them to add me as an insured driver/give me permission to drive their car? I do have a valid MI driver’s license as well, but don’t have the means to buy a car yet, so if I can’t safely ..read more

My car is registered in WA. I carry underinsured motorist property damage coverage. However I went to AZ for school, it was a temporary move and my insurance is still based in WA. My insurance was okay with this and my agent has managed my policy and has known everything so far including the move. In AZ there is no UIMPD. However since my policy is WA am I still covered under that? submitted by /u/BlazinZAA [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

How are you supposed to find out where insurers are no longer covering properties for fire?

In considering buying a home in California, I found out that insurers have pulled back from writing new policies in some areas (even pretty normal non-rural populated places). How are you supposed to find this out before considering where to buy a house? Are there maps they're publishing, or do you have to ask an insurance agent on a property-by-property basis? Hello, I am looking for legal behalf of my boyfriend of 8 years. He is 27. Back in 2015 (17/18 years old, I am not sure exactly), when he was still in high school and under his parents insurance, he got new hearing aids (he has been hard of hearing since he was approximately 5). Fast forward to when he turned 26 and got kicked off his parent’s insurance, he received a debt collection notice. Upon further evaluation, this bill was a medical bill from his hearing aids back in 2015 that his parents had not paid for. He now had $7,000+ in an unpaid medical bill that was now under his name since h ..read more
