2023: My year in outfits
Kate Waterhouse

What a year! Here I am again doing an outfit round up and I can’t believe it’s time to farewell another year. This has been another big 12 months on the sartorial front. I’ve been lucky to have had the opportunity to wear so many gorgeous looks that when I was scrolling through photos to compile this, I truly found it hard to pick a fave. There are however always some standouts simply because a look was so much fun to wear or the design was just stunning. I truly loved my look at Melbourne Cup Carnival this year, with the Mariam Seddiq dress a total winner with the springtime perfect lemon ye ..read more

What not to buy at sale time
Kate Waterhouse

Sale shopping can be an extreme sport for some, as the search for a genuinely good bargain requires time and commitment. However while I went through the list of things I think are worth buying on sale, there are some things I think are ultimately going to be a waste of money in the long run — even if they’re heavily discounted. This could be because they don’t fit, won’t work back with the rest of your wardrobe or doesn’t really gel with your style. By buying something just because it’s on sale, you end up wasting your precious fashion dollars, money  that could have been directed to so ..read more

What I Wore: Heat Wave
Kate Waterhouse

Scorching temperatures in Sydney mean I’m reaching a whole lot more for lightweight natural fabrics. This set by Bondi Born has been a great one to have up my sleeve as it’s made from the softest European organic linen which feels so lovely against the skin on a hot day! Also, I’m all about a one shoulder silhouette right now. I love it for swimwear and it’s a great feminine style for summery look with an elevated vibe. I can easily pair this top back with a number of different pieces in my closet making it a good go-to in my wardrobe rotation. I’m also a huge fan of the flowy silhouette (I li ..read more

My go-to swimsuit brands
Kate Waterhouse

I’m a water baby through and through and given I spend half my time at the beach, I’m always on the hunt for a great swimsuit. I tend to go between one pieces and bikinis but over the past few summers I’ve really been getting into the one piece as it’s such an easy style to take me from day to night. I wear it to the beach and pop on a cover up of some sort whether it’s a dress, a skirt, a shirt, a pair of shorts, you name it and I can easily transition into the next activity without having to get changed. I’m open to any and all swimsuit brands, but over the years, I have managed to develop s ..read more

What I Wore: Michael Lo Sordo 10th Anniversary Show
Kate Waterhouse
by Kate Waterhouse

An evening celebration of Michael Lo Sordo’s 10th anniversary called for a party ready look, and I couldn’t think of anything better than a slinky cocktail dress by the man of the hour himself. This canary yellow dress is a signature style of Lo Sordo’s (a navy iteration was worn by Ana de Armas in the most recent James Bond movie) and no wonder — it’s elegantly simple but so impactful at the same time. I’m also a fan of any dress with a statement back and this particular style features a stunning crystal strap, adding a little sparkle to this look. I wanted to Credits: Dress, (similar here ..read more

What I Wore: Australian Fashion Week 2023 Day 1

by Kate Waterhouse

It’s the first day of Fashion Week today so I wanted to make a splash with my outfit choice and go for something bold. It’s of course the perfect time to embrace the numerous talented Australian designers out there, and today was all about this Alemais dress for me. I throughly loved the way this dress had a fluidity to it that gave it some beautiful movement. While the stunning brocade fabric added some drama and elegance. And let’s not forget about the bell sleeves! Such gorgeous draping really added some theatre to the way this dress moved, while the contrasting yellow fringing added a gorg ..read more

What I Wore: Barnstable Brown Derby Eve Gala
Kate Waterhouse

I always love flying the flag for Australian designers whenever I’m attending events overseas. This jewel-toned Toni Maticevski gown was perfect for attending the ultra glam event, the Barnstable Brown Derby Eve Gala. The star-studded event, with everyone from NFL star Patrick Mahomes and actor Chris Pine in attendance, had a black-tie dress code so it definitely called for a gown. Toni Maticevski is a designer I’ve worn to many an occasion and his designs never fail to hit the mark. His aesthetic is always so polished, yet his gowns always have a unique design feature or an elegant flourish t ..read more

What I Wore: Animal Instinct
Kate Waterhouse
by Kate Waterhouse

I’ve often heard of animal prints being referred to as a neutral and while not a traditional neutral, I can see the logic in that. Animal prints are actually a really versatile print to work with. I’d attribute it to mostly being about the neutral tones that underpin an animal print including hues of camel, beige and black. So, while at first an animal print might be a little tricky to work with, it becomes a little less intimidating when you categorise it as being a neutral piece—consider it the same way you’d use a camel top or a beige pant. Case in point: this ocelot print dress from Witche ..read more

Let me take you behind the scenes at the Wanderluxe Mini Me collection launch…

Working on a project for several months, it’s always nice to see it finally come to fruition. I so enjoyed my time working on a mini me collection with Wanderluxe Sleepwear and I was excited to finally launch it out into the world. We decided to go with a kid-friendly/parent-friendly event and hosted an afternoon tea (I purposely wanted it to be timed to take place after school pick up). A private residence in Sydney’s Rose Bay provided the ideal backdrop. It was such a gorgeous location and the house was stunning and had plenty of room outside for the kids to relax and run around. I didn’t wa ..read more
