Tybee Island Historic Preservation Committee Open House is coming soon. The month of May is National Preservation Month! Join the Tybee Island Historic Preservation Commission, in partnership with the Tybee Island Historical Society, for an open house event at the new Archival Library. The event will be held on Saturday, May 18th from 11:30 a.m. until 3:30 p.m. at the Archival Library on the Lighthouse Grounds. Tybee Beach Bum Parade 2024 is May 17, 6:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. Since a couple of local Tybee Island softball teams had a little fun in 1987, and the waterlogged tradition continues, Tybee’s annual Beach Bum Parade is “the south’s largest water fight”! Thousands of people will be up on Butler Avenue in anticipation of floats driving by and soaking them with water as they spray right back. It is a family-friendly event focused on fun.
