Best way to dive with a camera tray and lights?

So this is probably a dumb question but I got this thing and it's bigger and heavier than I expected. I'm used to diving with a go pro on a floaty stick but that's really low profile. Any tips on diving with something this size? Do you clip it to a d ring when you ascend? I dive a BPW submitted by /u/Grand-Fun-676 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Questions for Florida Divers

Hey its been awhile since I've dove and I have found a second hand BCD, reg/octo, and dive computer for $300. Sat inside a closet for 5 years so it's a little dated. Aside from taking it all to a dive shop to make sure everything functions properly, I really wanted to paddle around and test everything after renting a tank. I'm currently located in Port Richey,FL. I'm not looking to dive any deeper than 30ft solo and would prefer freshwater or brackish initially. Searching for an open area with good visibility. Also willing to travel a couple of hours to do do. I'll be in the area for 6-8 week ..read more

Had to cancel a dive because my tattoo's still healing

I got a tattoo 3 weeks ago and it still seems to be healing. The online recommendation seems to be to wait 4 weeks - 1month to "err on the side of caution". Curious to hear from regular/professional scuba divers how they handle their tattoo aftercare. Thanks a ton! submitted by /u/rcglider [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Pony bottles

Hi. I recently joined my local BSAC club and they've told me that they would like me to dive with a pony tank. At the moment, we're talking single tank recreational dives. I will ask them all these questions, but just so that I'm not going in completely blind: What size should it be for recreational diving to 40m? What do I put in it? IE, should it be more oxygen rich than the primary? Do I still need the backup second stage on my primary tank, or can I move it to my pony? Do I dive with the tank valve open or closed, and if me and my buddy are in an out of air situation what's the procedure ..read more

Wetsuits and rashguards in the tropics

So far I have been diving in rash guards and swimming trunks, but the occasional mini jelly fish sting on the thighs is making me consider a different solution. So far I have been leaning towards tec-shorts. However I'm thinking of getting back into kite-surfing (and maybe normal surfing but not as important). Do you have any suggestions for westuits/formats/brands that could work for scuba and kiting? (around 36 degrees surface and 29 water celcius). Also curious to see if there any top-of the line options that could work for these two. Thank you! :) submitted by /u/DivingLearn3370 [visit r ..read more

NAUI Android App

Has anybody been able to get the NAUI android app to save their credentials? Mine won't save in the app, so each time I have to go to the chrome password manager and copy and paste into the app. It's quite cumbersome, especially when trying to use it on location with other divers waiting on you. Any tips? Thanks submitted by /u/Rancid_Lunchmeat [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Molokini Crater Depth

Hi all, I have a question for you - My dive buddy and I are new divers, and we've gone to two locations - the Great Barrier Reef off Cairns, and in Tahiti. She really enjoyed the brightness and the shallowness of the GBR, but in Tahiti she got really stressed out when she looked down and it was too deep to see the bottom. The idea of losing control of buoyancy and sinking to the bottom was too much. We're going to Maui, and I love the idea of diving the Molokini Crater. However, I'm not sure how deep it goes. Do you think someone with a fear of sinking would struggle here, or is it shallow en ..read more

Ideas for Silfra Pic?

Heading to Iceland in a few months and want to knock Silfra / Davidsgja off the list. Friend of mine and I are both big fans of funny / silly poses when we’re doing underwater photos. Most recent was a “paint me like a French girl” swim over a shark. We figured we’d crowdsource funky poses for Silfra besides just the hand in either tectonic plate, curious if anyone has any ideas / funny requests? submitted by /u/soundsthatmakewords [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
