On Thursday, May 2 the Tea Area High School softball team traveled to Brandon to take on the Brandon Valley Lynx.  The Titans led by four runs heading into the bottom of the fourth inning where Brandon Valley exploded for seven runs. The Titans attempted to fight back scoring one run in the top of the sixth and one more in the top of the seventh only to lose 8-7.  In the opening inning, Addisyn Hansen doubled to score one run for the Titans who jumped on the board early. On Monday, May 6 the Tea Area High School girls’ golf team competed in the West Central Invite.  As a team the Titans finished second.  “The girls played so good,” said Titan head coach Nick Berg. “Second place finish as a team, against a very tough field, was our best finish for a Tea girls’ team!” Leading the way for Tea Area was Abby Munson who tied for second with an 84. Izzy McNaughton tied for fifth with an 85. Sophie McNaughton earned a tenth place finish with a score of 87. Taylor King shot a 90 to finish in 16th place. Kenna Vavra shot a 104 to place 42nd. Track and field athletes from Tea Area headed to Howard Wood in Sioux Falls on May 3-4 to compete in the Howard Wood Dakota Relays.  The Titans saw great success in the relays, with new school records being set. The girls’ 4x800 meter relay team of Haidyn West, Jayna VanLaecken, Grace Bialas, and Jaycie Babb captured third place honors in the event with a time of 9:48.83. A 6-run seventh inning ignited the Tea Area Varsity baseball team to an 8-2 victory over the Brookings Bobcats in game #2 of Sunday’s doubleheader at Bob Sheldon Field in Brookings. The 6-run outburst was highlighted by four consecutive Titan base hits, by Tim Halbur, Gavin Johnson, Mason Schramm (double), and Ethan Vis (double). Dylan Larsen and Teagan Dedula (double), also added hits in the inning. Dedula lead the Titans with three RBI’s. Ten senior baseball players will be recognized on Friday, May 10, between a doubleheader against Rapid City Stevens. The Neighborhood Grill food truck will be onsite. The Lincoln County Commissioners met for a special board meeting Tuesday, April 30 in the Lincoln County Boardroom. Commissioners heard agenda items regarding the Justice Center project. By Jodi Schwan Three brothers are bringing multiple offerings to the former Tea Steak House building, including a bar and restaurant. Josh, Seth and Dylan North will be leasing the 11,000-square-foot space at 215 S. Main Ave. in Tea. They plan to bring back the Tea Event Center in one of the buildings and use the other for a mix of a bar and restaurant as well as a liquor store.
