Highland distillery Aberfeldy has revealed a 21-year-old single malt whisky finished in Malbec wine casks from Argentinian winery Finca Ambrosia. Aberfeldy 21 Year Old Malbec Cask Finish was initially matured in a combination of sherry hogsheads and refill bourbon barrels before being finished for eight months in Finca Ambrosia Malbec casks, bottled at 46% alcohol by volume [92 proof] and is said to offer notes of blackcurrant, cinnamon, honey, rosemary, sage, strawberry and vanilla. Arbbeg Distillery Commemorates Y2K Whisky

This whisky, dubbed Ardbeg Vintage Y2K, was made with some of the first spirits produced when Ardbeg began to produce again in 1999-2000. The Glenmorangie Company acquired the distillery in 1997, thus preventing its extinction. As part of the maturation process, the spirit was distilled in a retired pot still. Some believe that the equipment is over 51 years old and was retired in 2001. As a pioneer in the American single malt category, Virginia Distillery Company has announced a new line of whiskies. The distillery says will be its new “house-brand” offerings. This year,  2024, Ardnahoe’s first-ever single malt whisky will be released for sale for the first time to the public. The distillery was built in 2018 and production began in October of that same year. According to the distillery, Ardnahoe Inaugural Release 5 Year Old is a blend of whiskies aged in ex-Bourbon and ex-Oloroso sherry casks.
