Does anyone know what level of knowledge of hebrew is a good pivot point to switch to greek. So far I know 225 hebrew words and have finished about 1/3 of my hebrew text book. Getting to verbs right now which is basically 1/3 of the rest of the book. I was thinking when I get to know 800 words and atleast finish the verbs section of the Grammer. submitted by /u/No_Engineer_6897 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Did Jesus Use Reverse Psychology?

And he charged them that they should tell no man: but the more he charged them, so much the more a great deal they published it; (Mark 7:36) Do you think Jesus, understanding the nature of man, told people to not speak about his works because he actually wanted word of them to spread more? Whatever the case, this can remind us all to watch our words. The world loves to gossip. We can expect everything we tell another person to be retold, often differently, somewhere else. Trust not in a friend, put not confidence in a guide: keep the doors of your mouth from her that lies in your bosom. For t ..read more

Words of God in the Book of Job

Would biblical literalists say the words spoken by God in the Book of Job are verbatim or paraphrased? The original Hebrew is written as poetry and the English translations are also very poetic. If this is the word of God verbatim, why would God speak in poetry? If it is the word of God paraphrased, why would the human authors feel the need to change the literal words of God to make it poetic? Poetry is generally more artistic but more difficult to grasp the true meaning and more open to interpretation. submitted by /u/Misplacedwaffle [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Is The Authorized (King James) Version of the Holy Bible the Inspired Word of God?

I posted an article on the r/Bible subreddit titled “Legacy Standard Bible is NOT Standard.” In that article, I tried to explain how modern Bible versions say the opposite of the Authorized (King James) Version (a.k.a., KJV or AV) in specific passages. The different Bibles cannot say the opposite of one another and both be God’s word. This is a foundational issue. This is a significant issue. There can be no middle ground. "Choose ye this day whom ye will serve." Joshua 24:15. A preponderance of responses to the article tried to circumvent the issue through obfuscation by going back to the or ..read more

I made a free Bible memorization web-app geared towards large passages

Hey everyone! A few months back I started seriously pursuing scripture memory for the first time and quickly discovered that there were a few points of unnecessary friction in the process. I found that I would often finish memorizing a passage only to forget what I had said in the beginning, making it hard to recite a section of scripture all at once. After about a month of this I decided to build my own solution - after all, if such a tool could be useful to me, perhaps it could help others as well. After a few month of development, the result is a tool with the following features: Passage ..read more
