I'm contemplating a move from NYC to Philly. My questions are for you art world people who have done this move. Do you feel good about the decision and feel at home or did you rethink the move? For artists-are you able to make sales and have studio visits or do you find yourself commuting and transporting work a lot? As an artist this is probably one of the things I’ve had a really hard time with internally in the last few years. I see my peers around my age being successful with their work, getting residencies, getting signed with galleries, having big opportunities to show and exhibit. I have had some small breaks but nothing substantial. I am really looking for a new landscape, new connections, meet new people, focus on new work and see the other side of the world. I want to see if anyone had a similar experience and what they advise. During a recent art festival me and another 2 artists created a painting between all of them (each one contributed with a part) that we agreed to give away. Once the piece was finished, we all thought it was a great one and all wanted to make a digital file to sell as prints in the future. We all talked after the show and agree everyone could sell the prints individually and keep their income. What each artist sells is for them.
