Hello Friends! So much has happened since we stopped homeschooling that I felt it was time to move on to a new blogging platform. I went from being a full time stay at home- home educating mom of 3 to an almost full time working mom who attends school! Two of my children are now adults and Celeste is almost fourteen years old! Time goes by so quickly, doesn't it?! I searched for a while for a free blog site that would be user friendly and could expand to more. So far, Wix has been a nice website builder that includes a blog section. I feel that this will give me space to grow. I have bee ..read more

How I Meditate with Mala Beads
Life on Island
by

Last month, I took part of the a 21-Day Meditation Challenge. It was a free challenge hosted by Wanderlust with Light Watkins and Mala Collective. It was an amazing experience to learn more about the meditation practice and how to use mantras and different focus during each of the 21 days.  One of the tools that helped me a lot during that meditation challenge was the Mala Collective bead necklace. I had learned a little bit about how to use them at the Wanderlust Festival this summer in Tremblant, Quebec. Ashley, founder of Mala Collective, graciously took time to explain to me ..read more

Tremblant ~ Favourite Vegetarian Restaurants
Life on Island

During our stay in Tremblant Village for the Wanderlust Yoga Festival, I found myself returning regularly to the same food places. I am vegetarian, most of the time vegan, and tend to choose low-gluten foods. This combination can be challenging when travelling but it's possible to find delicious fresh options in the pedestrian village of Tremblant!  Here are my top favourite restaurants: I returned daily, sometimes more than once a day to Fluide Juice Bar.  This is a smoothie and juice bar, with an amazing selection of fruit and vegetable drinks made fresh to order. There are ..read more

I am continuing with my series of posts about the Wanderlust Tremblant Yoga Festival I attended last month. I wrote about the Yoga and Meditation classes here.  Tremblant Village  In this blog post, I am sharing with you my thoughts about the Speakeasys I attended. Speakeasy sessions are similar to a seminar, with a presentation by one speaker followed by a Q & A time.  Turn Pain into Power by Kat Trimarco I attended a Speakeasy talk "Turn Pain into Power" by Kat Trimarco, after the meditation class. It was a last minute change from our schedule by the ..read more

Next Bullet Journal + Its New Cover
Life on Island

I am now on my 4th bullet journal! I started it mid month simply because I ran out of pages in my last one. That's one great thing about bullet journaling, it's being able to do whatever is needed for you.  I made a new cover for this journal. I love each of these three fabrics I used on the cover and the fun inside fabrics too. I like to make my covers scrappy and whimsical, choosing fabrics that bring a smile to my face each time I see them, without being overly cute. It works for me.  You can read more of my bullet journal blog posts here and see other covers I ha ..read more

Wanderlust Find Your True Fork ~ Book Review
Life on Island

Find Your True Fork is the creation of Wanderlust Festival's co-founder Jeff Krasno. In a similar way from his book Wanderlust (see my review of that book here), he invited several amazing chefs to share their views and experiences on how they found their "true fork". Finding your own true fork means finding what "diet" fits you the best, for your actual body, for your mind, for your environment and more.  It was fascinating to read each of the chapters and I shared several with my husband by reading them aloud to him. He has gone through a bit of a mind shift with his own diet and r ..read more

Yoga Dice ~ Review
Life on Island

Yoga Dice by Chronicle Books is a great very useful little kit with 7 wooden dice and a booklet. The idea is so simple, I love it as an addition to my regular daily yoga practice!  Each dice has 6 sides. There are 5 poses and one chakra. Chakras are believed to be centres of energy in different parts of our bodies. Each dice has a different chakras and type of poses, like standing, balancing, seated, forward bend, backbend, sun salutations and core.  At the end of my yoga practice, I grab one of the dice, roll it and see where it lands. I then look up the information for that im ..read more
