Solving The Big Guy Surf SUP Conundrum It’s fair to say that most guys with paddle surfing intentions don’t necessarily fit into the 60-75kg sub 5’10 category so we have to ask ourselves how relevant are the volume to weight ratios and kit choices of our SUP surfing heroes? For most of us we have to pay for our kit and don’t always have unlimited budgets to justify 2-3 boards so it comes down to compromise to a certain extent. Loco boss Joe has always been a bit of a unit. Even when he first started paddle surfing way back he was still 95kgs (vs 110kg now) but at 6’4” he found narrower boards ..read more

Loco Tandem SUP Race League Hey Locos! If you’ve not already had a go on a tandem SUP where were you in 2018?! Unlike regular paddle boarding where it’s all about you and either your surroundings, beating your peers to the line or smacking a sweet lip. With school and club pre-order deadlines almost upon us we’re looking to promote our new race series. The Loco Tandem SUP Race League is all about participation, fun and going fast but unlike other race formats won’t involve lots of expensive ..read more

Cazz Lander Joins The Loco Race Team You know you’re doing something right as a brand when you have a double world record holder get in touch about racing for you.  What a refreshing change to the usual circus of trying to secure race talent where board discount and free stuff seems to ultimately rule who rides what. We thought we’d catch up with Cazz for a quick interview to find out a bit more about her and her plans for the 2019 SUP season: So when and where did your love of all things water begin?  I was born in Cornwall, spent the first few years of my life growing up by the se ..read more

Paddle boarding the River Treene in Germany

The River Treene is a 59mile long rightbank tributary to the river Eider in Schleswigholstein, northern Germany, and runs from Angeln to Friedrichstadt. It was formed 14,000 years ago when the glaciers subsided, you can still see evidence of this on the river banks at the northern part of the river. From antiquity to middle ages, the Treene , and trading harbour Hollingstedt, served as a shipping route between North Sea and Baltic Sea to avoid the dangerous circumnavigation of Jutland. Treene is also a resting place for rare migratory birds. The natural, narrow and overgrown river part from L ..read more

Corona virus is everywhere and the media are certainly fanning the flames of panic but what are we supposed to do? We can’t all just stop working, socialising and exercising! We’re told covid-19 presents the highest risk for the elderly and those with weak immune systems but then we hear about 30 year olds dying from it in Italy, so what can we take as gospel? The government’s latest update to postpone/cancel large events, avoid socialising where possible and encourage people with symptoms to self-isolate for 7 days seems sensible. What we do know is all these measures are going to have a detr ..read more

The Canarian SUP Debacle Heading back to Fuerteventura after a couple of years’ break was always going to be a challenge as shortly after my last visit life started to unravel. A combination of stress, some healthier life choices (after many years of not to so healthy life choices), a seriously ill parent and moving house lead to massive panic attack at the side of the road which resulted in ongoing anxiety, an irregular heartbeat and a bout of depression. From being a gregarious, confident brand owner to becoming an unrecognisable timid little boy certainly wasn’t part of my life plan but it ..read more

As some of you may know it’s been a challenging 18 months health-wise for Loco front man Joe, consequently the usual levels of SUP stoke and team talent harvesting have had to take a backseat regrettably. Thankfully he’s now back in the room and looking to drive things forward for the rest of this season and into 2020 and beyond. If you can see yourself as a Loco brand ambassador and are well-versed in self-promotion across social media we have specific boards we’d like to collaborate on in terms of promotion. Maybe you’re the next big name in GB SUP racing or Team GB paddle surfing? Maybe you ..read more
