Yesterday morning I went for a 3km run, this morning my legs are aching but I’m doing the maths as to how I can work towards a new goal that I’ve set myself for 2024— run 10km.  I used to be that person that would decide on a goal and attempt it the very next day. Going from a 3km to a 10km run within the space of a week. Likely to hurt my body, feel an exuberant amount of pain, struggle to the end stubbornly resolved to do it even if I wasn’t ready. Whether I achieved it or not (likely not at this age and fitness level) I would have been able to say I did it and never do it again. B ..read more

Goals represent the possibility of a desired future state. We need to first dream of that new reality for ourselves and secondly believe in our ability to travel towards and eventually arrive at our desired destination. When we combine a clear vision of the future with the self-belief, we are more motivated to take the necessary actions to set out on the journey.   The more appealing our goals, the stronger our commitment is to work towards them.  Because our goals are likely an experience, achievement or outcome that we haven’t yet experienced in our life, they require pla ..read more

For many of us we’re just over the hump of the chaotic holiday season of gatherings, gifts and gas bagging. This next few days brings a welcome break to slow down, switch off and self reflect. As our minds begin to declutter, the space is cleared to review the year that’s been and start casting our visions to the future. We allow ourselves to dream of what possibilities could lie ahead in the approaching new calendar year. It’s no surprise that the 1st of January in any given year holds a special kind of energy that resonates with new beginnings. Be it change, a new habit, a goal or an idea ..read more

When is the right time to start my side hustle? Now! The best thing about starting a side hustle is that you can do it on side of your main hustle and test out the idea to see if A) you like offering your product or service in exchange for money and B) that there is an audience who is willing and able to purchase what you have to offer. Once you’re in the game you’ll be able to gather information about what people want, the best way to deliver your offering and how much people are willing to pay for it. Lack of momentum is the single largest drain on motivation. We’re less likely to take actio ..read more

A Purpose Conference 2023, Dr Jason Fox mentioned that ‘if you’re a purpose driven business, you can’t not be affected by what’s going on in the world right now and it can’t not impact the way that you do business.’ Things have changed, are changing and are not going back to the way they were. We’re being challenged to continually evolve as heart-centred humans, conscious business owners and as an inclusive community. When Sally Hill asked me to present ‘How to Start a Side Hustle’ at Purpose 2023, my first thoughts were ‘why?’ How do I fit into this incredible lineup of people literally ..read more

Not that long ago, working for ourselves was the norm for most people. Humans dwelled in small communities in which members used their natural skillsets to contribute to the maintenance and perpetuation of the village.
