Faith is Caught, Not Taught

‘Faith is caught, not taught’ was a favourite saying of my Mum’s (Joan Hodgson). When I first heard it – many years ago – I did not realise how true it was. In the present particularly challenging times, it is a wonderful gift to possess, but it usually doesn’t work to say to someone ‘You must have faith!’  I am a naturally optimistic person and so lucky to have grown up with White Eagle’s wise and loving teaching, but reading things does not necessarily give us the gift of faith, even if what we read feels true. A deep inner faith in God’s goodness and the ultimate outworking of an extra ..read more

A Heavenly Rose Garden

Recently I had the opportunity to visit a most beautiful garden, filled with fragrant roses. I was able to spent some time there in quiet meditative reflection; it really felt as though I was lifted 'on wings of light' into the heavenly Garden of Communion.  One of the many things I love about White Eagle's teaching is the way we are all helped to make our own personal contact with loved ones who have left their physical bodies. Of course, we can be aware of them at any time in our daily lives, not just when we are sitting quietly or out in nature. If we keep our awareness open, it is a ..read more

A sense of humour is a wonderful gift. It can carry us  through many challenging moments in our lives and bring extra joy in the happy times. White Eagle has a great sense of humour and I am often aware of his smile and twinkling eyes  when things get in a bit of a muddle! In all the wonderful and inspiring moments during these past Platinum Jubilee days, and witnessing the many trıbutes to our Queen, one memory will always stay with me...the private little tea party with Paddington Bear and Her Majesty. This was broadcast on the screen outside Buckingham Palace during Saturday's Con ..read more

Your Own Resurrection!

There is a beautiful passage in White Eagle's Little Book of Comfort for the Bereaved', in the chapter which has this title, 'You are your own resurrection!' Here in a short extract: 'Can you imagine freedom; freedom from all want and limitation, freedom from evil thoughts, freedom from pain? Can you imagine yourself free to give and share with all creatures and all human beings the wonderful life of God? The great initiate Jesus, the Christed one, has demonstrated to you that there is a life beyond death. You will remember the words written in your Bible, those that ..read more

Thoughts for Mothers' Day

Here in the UK we celebrate Mothering Sunday three weeks before Easter. In days gone by those 'in service' in stately homes, (like in Downton Abbey and Gosford Park!), were allowed a day off from their arduous duties to visit their mothers. It is especially lovely that whatever the actual date of Easter, which varies year by year,  Mothers' Day comes in spring time when hopefully we have sunshine and our gardens and hedgerows are filled with flowers. Making a gift of flowers for our mothers, or maybe placing a posy of flowers by a treasured picture of mothers who have passed on, is a tra ..read more

Happy Anniversary!

Anniversaries are special times, whether they commemorate a birthday or a passing from the physical life, a special event or the founding of an organisation. 22nd February is the anniversary of the dedication of the first White Eagle Lodge in 1936. (This first Lodge was in a hired hall in London, and then the work continued in more permanent premises after the bombing of that first home during the second world war. This story is in itself a reminder, that even though we may lose a physical form, even though change is part of life, the essence that we love is eternal.)  During the dedicati ..read more

Messages from Heaven

When things are difficult in our personal lives, and there seem so many world problems, I think many long for a message from Heaven....and preferably a message of reassurance and hope for better things to come. A friend commented to me the other day, 'There are so many things on the internet, so much channeling of messages, why not more 'messages from our White Eagle'.  Yes, we are very aware that we need to make more use of modern day media possibilities and we are working on this and will be launching our new website soon, and using U tube more. However there is an important point I wan ..read more

New Year Thoughts from White Eagle

I love the bright energy of New Year time. It always encourages me to feel optimistic and look at everything in a more positive light. None of us can know what will actually lie ahead in the ensuing months, but what we can ALWAYS be sure of is God's love and care for us all. White Eagle asks us to keep faith in this no matter what. Perhaps this might be a good New Year Resolution:  I have faith in God's love and care for all life. I have faith in God's Perfect Plan. White Eagle reminds* us: 'We in spirit can look upon the earth from an angle which you cannot. We can see into the hearts of ..read more

Christmas Gifts

'What can I give him, poor as I am? If I were a shepherd, I would give a lamb. If I were a wise man, I would do my part. But what I can I give him....... ....... give my heart.' I have always loved these words by William Blake in the well known Christmas carol. Even as a child, they meant a lot to me. Now, hearing the carol again this year, the words seem even more meaningful. We are very near the traditional time of giving, and the shops and media are full of possible gifts for friends and family. And perhaps this year, after the separation and isolation of last Christmas, there is an even st ..read more

Remembering

Remembrance Sunday is a poignant time for so many, and its significance seems even more important nowadays, not only to the older generation who remember the world wars, but to the younger ones who study them in their history classes at school, but also witness vividly through media coverage, the horror of modern weapons. Also, we witness the courage of those who have survived military conflicts, but been terribly injured, and have to re-build their lives. We see the bravery of those who support their recovery, their close family members, and those who repair broken bodies and minds.  The ..read more
