A Vesper Sparrow was spotted at DeKorte Park yesterday (Sunday, April 21), providing a real treat for birdwatchers. The species is very rarely seen in the Meadowlands, especially in the spring. The day started much like any other. As usual, I was scrambling around the house trying to get out the door. It was going to be a beautiful day, so I thought I get some work done at a local butterfly garden project. I got my jacket on and a call came in from Chris, “I am heading out to check on one of the Eagles nests.” Great, I said, let me know what’s going on. “Will do,” Chris came back.
