Beren & Luthien (from J.R.R Tolkien's the Silmarillion) car ornament for my husband's car

I made this cat ornament for my husband's car based on Tolkien's original sketches. The love of Beren and Lúthien was legendary because he was a mortal man, but Lúthien was an immortal elf. Her father, a great elvish lord, in deep opposition to Beren, imposed on him an impossible task that he must perform before he might wed Lúthien, which leads to the heroic adventure of them both robbing the greatest of all evil beings, Morgoth, the Black Enemy, of a great jewel called the Silmaril. Hand stitched over almost 10 hours of work to resemble my love for him. He loved it! submitted by /u/Bic ..read more

My partner loves bees (like.. in theory) and as I was walking through the store n saw this kit so decided to try it out. I think it turned out well enough! There was definitely some learning done as i went like the left wing is better than the right, and the right stems are better than the left (imo). Overall, it was fun though. Will definitely be trying more submitted by /u/poilsoup2 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

I've been into embroidery since early 2023, but never really posted my pieces on this sub (despite frequent visits.) so, I just thought to post all my pieces on here today. I've experimented with varying sizes, thickness of thread and materials like fabric, tulle, and felt. all of these are kits bought from Amazon over the past year and a half-ish. submitted by /u/Temporary_Coffee_600 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Embroidery on Canvas

I saw this beautiful embroidered canvas at Homegoods and was thinking I could make my own wall art! The canvases at Hobby Lobby I saw are all pre primed with acrylic paint. I've read that is difficult to work with because it will show all holes poked including mistakes. Where can I get framed canvas that isn't pre primed ? Or would you first embroider on fabric and just stretch that over a frame? submitted by /u/Over-Milk-1779 [visit reddit] [comments ..read more

Any tips to improve are appreciated. I used a back stitch but I feel there might be a better option for cleaner lines. I drew the pattern myself on dissolving stabilizer. You can see the real fossil at the Royal Tyrell Museum in Drumheller, Alberta. submitted by /u/AredhelArrowheart [visit reddit] [comments ..read more
