Sonnwies – A Beautiful child-friendly ski hotel in the Dolomites

After the success of taking Oscar skiing earlier this year we were excited to take him again. Mr S is a really keen skier and and absolutely loved seeing Oscar on his skis and taking to it all so well! In my original research I had found a family-friendly hotel called Sonnwies, which also ticked all the boxes for our stay. I had been torn between Moargut and Sonnwies for our trip back in February but Moargut won out at that time but I was still very keen to try Sonnwies! My sister was also wanting to book a ski trip having never been herself or her boys. February half term seemed inordinately ..read more

A stay at Port Lympne Safari Park, Wild Animal Hotel and Reserve has been on mine and Oscar’s bucketlist for a while now… and October half term felt like the perfect time to book in a stay at this unique hotel in Kent along with my sister and Oscar’s cousins, Charlie and Jackson. To give a brief overview, Port Lympne is a safari experience located over hundreds of acres of the Kent countryside. The reserve also encompasses a hotel with multiple unique accommodations ranging in style from stylish lodges to luxury glamping. Guests can stay at the hotel or simply take a day trip to Port Lympne a ..read more

SilverSpoon London

I’m well and truly on a mission to find the very best family-friendly luxury hotels on the market! And this time I not only had my pre-schooler in tow… I had my brand new baby, Noah! A brand name that comes up time and time again in the luxury family travel market is ‘Ikos,’ a hotel group that promises to have ‘redefined the luxury all-inclusive’ holiday. Owned by the same people as the marvellous Sani Resort in Halkidiki, and based on multiple word-of-mouth recommendations from friends, I knew the Ikos brand would be great choice for our first hotel as a family of four! The Concept of Ikos Re ..read more

Noah’s Birth Story: A C-Section at the Lindo Wing Take 2
SilverSpoon London

Trigger warning mentions birth, c-sections and NICU As soon as I found out I was pregnant I knew I would have a c-section again. My birth with Oscar had been very calm and non-traumatic and I wanted a repeat of the positive experience that I’d had with him. So much has been talked about in terms of birth trauma and I will hold my hands up and say I’m slightly terrified of ‘natural’ births. With Oscar I’d had pregnancy complication at week 34 so a c-section became a necessity, whereas this time it was all set to be down to personal choice. I had a great experience with our consultant for Oscar ..read more

The Third Trimester Weeks 28 – 37 and what I packed in my hospital bag

I’ve finally sat down to write this post and Baby Brother (as we affectionately call him!) is now nearly three months old. I don’t think he even officially had a name yet when I wrote my last update. But the newest member of the Silver family has been registered as Noah Ethan, and he now has a passport and everything. We’re even gearing up for our first holiday as a four! I really didn’t want to leave my pregnancy diaries incomplete by not including the third trimester. Of course with it being such a long time ago I’ve completely forgotten everything and I’m writing this with my diary by my si ..read more

My Baby Shower Take 2!
SilverSpoon London

I know not everyone chooses to have a baby shower, especially if it’s baby number 2! But once you get to my age (pretty old lol!) and there are less opportunities to see the friends who have moved away and you see less frequently. This is my main reason for having a baby shower.., a chance to get the girls together and have a celebration! Fortunately, for me one of my best friends is an event organiser and once we’d found the venue together, Theresa from Hummingbird Events and my sister Jen put together the most wonderful day. The venue of choice was Biscuiteers Icing Cafe in Belgravia located ..read more

Welcome to the world our beautiful baby boy!! Born on the 26th May, 2023 at 37 weeks.  It’s been quiet around here with a bumpy start for our baby bean and a difficult end to my pregnancy. But I can’t wait to tell you all about him as he has just filled our hearts so much. There’s a great amount of contentment in having the second child. No pressure to do anything or be a certain person just to enjoy your little one in your own space and time. Oscar loves him too!    The post Welcome to the World appeared first on SilverSpoon London ..read more

Before I had Oscar, my friend Theresa and I were always off on adventures abroad visiting Fjords in Norway, beaches in Jersey, sangria in Barcelona and eating Schnitzel in Vienna! We decided to do final staycation in the UK as we did before Oscar was born – something much more sedate than our usual wine-fuelled nights! I’m a huge fan of The Pig Hotels, having visited three already, and Theresa was keen to try her first! As she lives in Bristol and I’m in London, The Pig Near Bath is the perfect middle ground for us. What are The Pig Hotels  There are currently eight hotels in The Pig grou ..read more
