Dear Show Hope Family,  I recently celebrated five years of service at Show Hope, and what I love and why I am passionate about being here is that Show Hope is an organization that lives and breathes by faith. That call to faith is part of our DNA, if you will. It was our Founders, Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman, who stepped out in faith to adopt their daughter Shaohannah Hope, and it was their adoption journey that led to the founding of Show Hope more than 20 years ago now.  Over this past year, faith continues to be our north star as we boldly stepped out with the goal to ..read more

Growing up, Joseph Langr helped his dad serve adults with special needs. When Joseph and his wife, Chloe, were engaged, he shared a calling to parent children with Down syndrome someday. Chloe tabled the conversation until after they were married and together decided that they wanted to pursue it if that was only specifically how the Lord wanted to build our family. “I think the fact that Joseph didn’t bring up the topic of adopting a child with special needs actually gave me more freedom to explore the idea in prayer because there was no pressure from his end, just patience and gentleness ..read more

Dear Show Hope Family, It can never be said enough: We are profoundly grateful for each and every one of you, particularly as we reflect upon the incredible journey that is Show Hope. As we think back on this “great adventure,” we are reminded of Jesus’ parable of the mustard seed. In Luke’s Gospel, we read Jesus’ words, “What is the kingdom of God like? And to what shall I compare it? It is like a grain of mustard seed that a man took and sowed in his garden, and it grew and became a tree, and the birds of the air made nests in its branches” (Luke 13:18-19). It is humbling and breathtaking ..read more

That Nudge From God

Two years ago, I was introduced to Show Hope through Hope for the Journey. My friend and colleague, at the time, was (and still is a foster parent) and shared, “This conference is one you are really going to love.” I was about nine months into respite care I was providing for a young boy, and she shared how it had transformed her and her family in their journey. Just a month before that invitation, I had spent time outside of the country, visiting some friends who were serving the Lord in North Africa. God had started revealing to me, after that trip, a strong sense of asking him “what” and ..read more

Today, there are approximately 15 million children, around the globe, who are in need of the love, security, and permanency of a family. And here, in the U.S., there are some 115,000 children who have had parental rights terminated and are in need of permanent families. In addition, there are families who long to grow their family through adoption, yet the financial barrier is just too overwhelming, with the cost of adoption ranging between $25,000 and $50,000. But since 2003, Show Hope has provided much-needed support through our cornerstone Adoption Aid grants work, where nearly 9,000 chil ..read more

The minute Shaoey was placed in my arms, in a hotel in China, I got it. (Maybe you know the story. Even so, it was such a profound moment that I cannot help but share it every chance I get.) As we welcomed her into our family through the miracle of adoption, I was confronted with my own adoption story. I finally understood what God did for me. He adopted me too, and nothing is going to separate me from that adoption. It was a huge day for me. Shaoey was placed in my arms, love took me in, and everything changed. Our family had expanded as well as our hearts, and I wanted to tell everyone w ..read more

More than 20 years ago, Mary Beth and Steven Curtis Chapman dreamed of helping 100 children come home to the love of a family through adoption. Today, nearly 8,900 children have been impacted by a Show Hope Adoption Aid grant. Yet the need remains the same as it did in 2003.  The goal of Show Hope’s Adoption Aid grants is to fund 25 to 35 percent of the total costs associated with adoption. Until recently, our grants have ranged between $6,000 and $10,000. However, to meet rising adoption costs, that range is now between $8,000 and $12,000 each.  In addition to the rising cost, S ..read more

When Love Won

Dear friends, As Easter approaches, I have been thinking a lot about the resurrection of Jesus. As I reflect on this miraculous, literal life-altering, history-changing event, I am always humbled that as a Christian, the God of the universe put on flesh, took the weight of my sin, and paid for it with His life. I cannot fathom those three days before the resurrection, yet as I sit in the reality, these truths hit me again: Jesus died, was buried, and then resurrected, sealing eternity with Him for us.  Death was swallowed up, and love won!  As simple as it sounds, it seems every ..read more
