Our team in Liberia implemented a new feeding project in 2023. Almost a year later, the project has been so impactful that our team started providing breakfast too, in addition to lunch. 450 orphaned and vulnerable children who attend our school and their teachers are now being served two nutritious meals each day. These meals offer more than just physical sustenance. They are a tangible representation to each child that he or she is seen, known, and loved. As nutritious breakfasts and lunches lead to improved health, better focus, and increased energy, the children we serve have a greater c ..read more

Realeen* is unable to speak due to a traumatic event that changed her life. When she was 4 years old, she and her sister witnessed the murder of their mother by their father. While trauma may have stolen her ability to speak, God is helping Realeen develop ways of communicating so she can still have a voice. At Lifesong, we stand by a 4-part pledge to the children we serve. The second part of the pledge affirms our commitment to providing holistic care to orphaned and vulnerable children so they don’t lack food, clothing, medical care, and shelter. “Our Children” Will: Be taught t ..read more

Here at Lifesong, we want to honor birth mothers who make the courageous choice to pursue an adoption plan. Today we welcome Guest Contributor Abbey to the blog. I was five months along when I learned I was pregnant. I had gone to an emergency room 20 miles out of town because I couldn’t get answers for some strange ongoing health symptoms I was having. Pregnancy hadn’t even crossed my mind. When doctors told me the news, I had no words. My husband and I were already in the process of ending our difficult marriage, and functionally, I was a single mother to our one young son. Not going to ..read more

Lifesong Blog

We’re honored to share this guest post by foster and adoptive mother Jamie C. Finn from Foster the Family. Dear Mother, Happy Mother’s Day. It’s there in the greeting: Happy. The description of how you’re “meant” to feel, what this day “should” be. But maybe, for you, this day isn’t only just happy. This thing that we do is beautiful and broken, joy-filled and heartbreaking. It can feel like work and like calling. It can seem deeply meaningful and like “What’s even the point?” Being a foster or adoptive mother is ever, always more than one thing at once. Which means this “happy” day of cel ..read more

As a child, Tae* was left alone without food or protection. He was raised in South Korea by a single mother who lived promiscuously and was rarely home. In middle school, Tae took it upon himself to find a job to provide for his needs. By high school, he was placed in a small orphanage where he was provided for. After graduating from the orphanage when he was 18 years old, Tae began experiencing bothersome symptoms. His doctor discovered a growth in his eye and sent him to the hospital with instructions to have it tested for cancer immediately. Sadly, at the hospital, Tae was told he couldn ..read more

There’s a new foster care movie coming to theaters July 4, 2024. As an adoptee out of foster care, I was deeply curious to see Sound of Hope: The Story of Possum Trot, and now having watched a screening of it, I can confidently say: You’re going to want to see this movie. How Adoption Financial Support Changes Children’s Lives
Lifesong Blog
by Trisha Priebe

Countless children are waiting to be adopted. Here at Lifesong, we believe every child deserves the love of a family, so we offer adoption financial assistance in the form of adoption grants and loans because we believe money should never be the reason a child doesn’t have a family. For us, adoption financial assistance isn’t simply about providing financial support; it’s about affirming the inherent worth of every child and the sacred nature of every family’s journey to bring them home. Recently, we heard from Aaron and Jennifer, Lifesong matching grant recipients. Here’s their story— “We ..read more
