I have been searching all over, but can’t seem to find the answer. We are building a house, and the second floor studs have black spots all over.
Is this mold or metal shavings? Help!

I’m finishing up a handful of dining tables. Before the final sanding I always throw some weight on the top to make sure they’re good and solid. Just curious if I was the only one that does this?

I’m trying to make a Spirited Away mobile for my son’s Ghibli themed nursery. We’ve been on a budget, so I’ve been trying to use things we have in the house already. We did a lot of house painting awhile back, so we had a lot of paint sticks laying around the garage. (Still in progress) The issue now is that I did a test run of trying to drill holes into the top for the string to go through… And the first attempt was not good. Is this a drill problem? A drill bit i ..read more

Got a wild hair a few weeks ago and got it in my head to build a breakfast bar from a raw oak slab. Never done anything remotely like this before, so more than anything it was a learning experience. Turned out decent enough for the backyard, so thought I’d share a beginner hobbiest’s work!

So a restaurant near me has these butcher block tables, every single one looks like this! Why is this happening and how to prevent it?
Added context: They started cracking after only two months after delivery.

Just spent the last three days working on this brush. Wanted something that was covered in webs and spiders. Started with the lathe and went straight into dremel and wood burning. Let me know what you think!

Hello all, this is my first time trying a proper mortise and tenon (in this case a through-tenon). I've been having a lot of trouble getting clean and straight cuts. If I cut downwards holding at a 90° angle the chisel slips, making me need to angle away from perpendicular to continue straight down, but by this point I have no way of ensuring it stays cutting at the same angle (which should be 90° to the surface to begin with).
The inside of the mortise is very rough especially on the sides where the grain ran parallel to the chisel blade.
Is my chisel still not sharp enough? I see videos ..read more

My wifes son just had that side of the families first grand baby and asked me to make them a bookcase. It turned out great, so made a matching side table for next to the rocker.
