Hello friends.
I wanted to come up with a really cool blog post this week:a nice 3-pointer. Something like “How to Take Care of Yourself While Homeschooling”. Or something catchier like “Five Ways to Ease Into Homeschooling During the Pandemic”.
To be perfectly honest, I don’t have another 3-pointer or 5-pointer.
In fact, I am taking a break from my homeschool blog this Fall season (and my podcast too). I have just accepted a job as a part-time teacher at a small classical school (for homeschoolers) this academic year, which I am very excited about. Additionally, I am still homeschooling my mi ..read more

I’ve had quite a few changes in my personal life and recently graduated my daughter. I can’t believe we are at the end of our homeschool journey with my eldest (although still homeschooling my youngest daughter.)
She recently sat down with me and answered a few questions I had with her about her experience with homeschooling these past 13 years. What a journey it’s been!
What we talked about
In the interview, Nyomi shares
the different homeschool methods and services we’ve used for her over the years
pros and cons of online school vs. traditional homeschooling
the difference between COVI ..read more

Dear Homeschool Moms,
My heart grieves for what has become of our nation- and our world. Systemic racism is a battle long-fought, which, unfortunately, has never been won. As an African-American family, it was hard to watch my daughters witness the murder of George Floyd last week and to watch them grieve together with their friends.
It has taken me a few days to process this and I haven’t been able to speak out until now. Although I am choosing not to protest in the streets, I have chosen to, instead, make an impact with my prayers, my words, and my attitude towards the situation at hand. Un ..read more

You wake up with your day already mapped out like a cross-country road trip. Immediately, you proceed to conquer the day’s agenda. Shuttling one or more kids to outside classes or activities (Home schooling is a misnomer!), sitting down with your students in a “take-turns-this-is-a-one-room-schoolhouse” format, and getting breakfast and lunch on the table in a semi-healthy, quasi-efficient manner, you take a deep breath. I haven’t always done the right thing when it comes to my health- I admit it. I’ve wanted to, but just didn’t have the knowledge or the will power.
There was a scary season of my life where I was nearly diagnosed with … well…watch the video and you’ll find out.
This is what got me kick-started on my health journey and why I am so passionate about taking care of my temple today.

I started blogging circa 2004 and boy has blogging EVER changed since then! Now, more than ever, is a great time to take advantage of tools like blogging in order to start and grow your own business from home.
Now…did I say it was easy?
Never.
But it is doable. It takes time. And although there is a learning curve, anyone can learn to do it.
I offer a course on how to start your own blog, but in this post I wanted to share my recent YouTube videos about what it takes to start your own income-earning blog. I’ll give you the nuts and bolts of the basics (like the technical start-up know-how).

Why study the bible?
The Bible is my life. It is my guideline for how to live and gives me wisdom and direction. I read stories from the Old Testament for guidance (and oftentimes learn what to avoid) and I glean from the New Testament to learn God’s will for my life today through my salvation and hope in Jesus Christ. Together, both the Old and New testaments give divine inspiration for how I am to walk through my faith journey.
I study the Bible because without knowing what it says I can’t possibly live my fullest life of faith in Christ Jesus. As a Christian, I need to be aware of what the ..read more

Whether we admit it or not, many women go through seasons of depression- and many times we don’t speak about it at all. Not even to those closest to us. And quite honestly-that’s a very unhealthy place to be.
Unhappiness leads to depression. There are so many of us around the world who are dealing with seasons and bouts of depression. I know that is not God’s perfect plan for us, but that it’s a result of the world we are living in and the unfortunate circumstances we might find ourselves in.
Nonetheless, our God is a Healer. He can restore your mind, your heart, your soul. He can bring joy b ..read more

Hey mama…are you taking care of yourself?
Made you think, didn’t I? This question is really important, but we often pass it off or place it on the shelf. We tend to take care of everyone else first (like our kids!) before we’ll take care of ourselves.
It’s so important for mamas to stay healthy because we have so much to give back. So…here are my tips for helping you out with self-care.
Let food be thy medicine.
Be careful what goes into your vessel. You food is fuel and can either make you or break you. Dont’ forget to eat healthy and choose your fuels wisely.
Also, drink loads of water.
