Trophies for Local Cub Scout Pack

Had some fun with a local Cub Scout Pack Leader this past January designing and creating these trophies for their Pinewood Derby races. Thank you to our local Lowe’s for donating the lumber and a special thanks to Aaron F. for providing a second set of hands in the shop. In a world of anger and strife, it is good to know there are still many-many good people out there. Good fellowship with those who are not necessarily knowledgeable in woodworking and teaching the craft. These trophies sparked some interest in our youth in the art of woodworking. I’ve had a phone call from some youngsters ..read more

I have been making these guys for quite a while now, and thought it was time to post. These have been posted before on other sites before and are knowns as Robo-style, I do believe. I use them as stocking stuffers, and as gifts for people that do me favors and as they take up very little space in the drawer they are very popular. I will be posting a blog today as to how I make them. —Madts ..read more

Kitchen cabinets and bathroom vanities
WoodworkingWeb

I was asked to build the kitchen cabinets, island and bathroom vanities For a new home, made out of Hickory, which is a wood in all of my almost 50 years Of Woodworking I have never used. I love it’s beautiful warm color tones And straight grain. It’s great to be in my shop again. I’ve had a bad year with broken ribs twice about 10 weeks apart. I’ve learned the hard way, it’s a very dense wood a needs to be pre drilled at every screw. This project has been fun to build and has inspired me to redo my own kitchen over. The biggest challenge for me having no plans was the corner cabinet, I ..read more

Solid Cedar Swaying Daybed/swing

I built this daybed swing for a wonderful wedding couple to get married under and the daybed/swing for after their wedding as a gift from their family. I designed the whole thing! It’s solid cedar. The cedar was all ruff cut from a local mill. I sanded, joined, planned and routed every piece. All of it has heavy duty hardware. I hand drew and wood burned the Harley Davidson name and eagle into it. Each end piece was cut, and carved by me and my end style. They have Harley Davidson Bikes. I know now that you can get into trouble for copy rights, but I was not going around selling this swing t ..read more

Made this Liquor/Wine shelf, solid cedar rubbed with linseed oil. I just threw bottles on it from our cabinet. Bottom shelf is suppose to have wine bottles on it. It was a weird area to put a shelf. So I figured if I left the shelves open it would make the space feel more open. Which it did ..read more

Oil Holder
WoodworkingWeb

My goal for this oil holder was not just to have a spot for oil bottles but, specifically, four bottles… the four chosen oils for my daily Essential Reflections. When I do my Reflections, I have one oil for each direction, east, south, west, and north… but that is another story. For the holder, I wanted the holes to also be in the four directions. So, I designed it and I sent Rick to the shop to make it work. I wanted the holes to be large enough for both 5ml bottles and 15 ml. To make life easy for the build, I asked for the log to be cut in two, with the holes going through the top half and ..read more

Just a few boxes ....

Each one of these boxes required a new set of challenges. Lately the most popular are the glass top box with a wedding invitation on the lid. Folks like to give them as wedding presents. The Irish Dance Shoe box took a little time with the scroll saw and the Sculpted Heart box was a process with a drill and a sanding disc (really fun). Great fun ..read more

Wall wine rack for my daughter in law. Made from walnut and used water pipes. She is into farm house style so this is what I come up with. Don’t know if this qualifies as farm house but she likes it anyway. Didn’t do a lot of sanding as you can see the saw marks on top shelf. Thanks for looking ..read more

I was commissioned to build another set of cornhole boards by Roanoke County Parks for use at Explore Park. Made from marine grade plywood and treated lumber. They both have handles and a built in box to store the bags. The trees represent the park and the blue is the river that runs through it. Thanks for looking ..read more
