Our Small Space Entryway Update
A Fabulous Fete
by Lauren Saylor
4M ago
For years I’ve struggled with how to utilize the wall in our entryway. It’s an awkward space that our front door opens directly into and then leads to our stairs. I always thought if I did anything here, it needed to involve hanging storage for coats and bags, but all of the pieces I found were too bulky and got in the way. I decided to rethink what we could do here outside of the traditional hooks. With just a few pieces I transformed a previously white and boring wall into a cozy nook that fits well, is functional, and adds a little life and ambiance when guests enter our front door! Winter Bedroom Refresh
A Fabulous Fete
by Lauren Saylor

For a while now, our bedroom has been a whirlwind of construction dust and paint splatters. We ripped out the old carpet, retextured the walls, added a few pops of color on the trim, and are starting to install new flooring. With the bones of the room (almost) finally in place, it was time to turn my attention to the cozy factor. I've always been a creature of white bedding habit, more out of convenience than any real design choice. But as we inched closer to a finished space, I craved something that felt more personal, more me. Enter April Notes, a sustainable home brand with the most incred ..read more

Styling Tips for your Bar Cabinet or Cart
A Fabulous Fete
by Lauren Saylor

Over the years I’ve had my share of bar carts (haven’t we all?). Slowly i’ve gotten rid of them but never knew what I wanted to replace them with. You know I love a surface to style, but I think my problem with bar carts (in our home at least, there are plenty of situations i love them in) is that everything was so exposed. And when it comes to liquor bottles, it’s not always easy to pick good quality that also has good branding and packaging. It left my bar cart feeling a little messy. Enter the bar cabinet. I feel a little more grown up (i guess having a place to store your crap does ..read more

Fall Bedroom Decor Ideas
A Fabulous Fete

I don’t typically do a big overhaul in the bedrooms for specific seasons. What I do like to do is add a little color and switch up the textures. It’s a super simple way to give your room a different feel without going all out. We had a simple bright, white and airy vibe going for summer which was a great base to start with for adding pieces that reflected fall. Here are the 3 MAJOR changes I made for optimal impact with minimal effort.   ONE • ADD A THROW BLANKET Or two or three. It’s the best way to throw in a pop of color inexpensively as well as functionally. For fall I went wi ..read more

Decor Ideas for Hosting a Halloween Gathering
A Fabulous Fete

There aren’t many holidays I will buy decor specifically for. Actually, there is literally only one, Christmas. And even then, it’s more like sentimental items I will invest in (ornaments, stockings, etc.). Otherwise I am a huge believer in curating what you have to feel like specific holiday decor. There is so much you can do by simply changing up your color palette or adding in some inexpensive fresh and seasonal items. Halloween is a great example. It’s honestly one of my least favorite reasons to decorate. I don’t like spiders, cobwebs or skeletons so it doesn’t leave me a lot of work wit ..read more

How to Decorate Your Dining Room For Fall
A Fabulous Fete
by Lauren Saylor

As I’ve pointed out so many times before (and will again and again), decorating for something specific like a season or a holiday doesn’t always mean that you have to buy literal decor. So when shopping for a season like Fall, just because pumpkins and leaves are the like, mascots of the season, doesn’t mean you have to buy plates adorned with leaves and ceramic pumpkins. I love a good color palette and some texture to help me decorate for specific times of the year. In a few months, when it’s time to change our decor again, all you have to do is swap out a color and you have a fresh feeling ..read more

Our Living Room Decor Update

Did you catch the before and after on social? After a few years of raising 3 dogs through their puppy days, we decided to give our main living space a little upgrade! I did love our previous room prior to the attacks the dogs made on our rug(s) pillows, throw blankets and couch cushions. Most of the time I did what I could to keep it tidy and somewhat styled for us to enjoy. But the reality was, I couldn’t keep up… with the constant replacing of items as well as moving my favorite pieces daily to safety so they wouldn’t be chewed up while we were gone. I gave up for a bit. But as of just a fe ..read more

One Last Summer Backyard Dinner Party
A Fabulous Fete
by Lauren Saylor

I went through a few versions of a little centerpiece here on our outdoor dining table. They either died, melted, or got dirty too fast. I’ve always been drawn to creating a backyard with casual French countryside bistro vibes (you know the one… pebbles on the ground, wood accents, lavender lining the space, rosé always on the table), so I landed on the idea to have a mini herb garden on the tabletop. The purple of the lavender didn’t go with my palette (rolling my own eyes at myself haha) so I picked up some rosemary (SO easy to keep alive!) and spearmint. The last little plant wasn’t an her ..read more
