This was a great year to be on Isle Royale.  Well come to think of it, every trip is a great trip to Isle Royale.  This year was my 14th consecutive year.   Saw this poster at the Visitor Center by the Ranger when checking in. After I left Starved Rock I took a small hiking vacation to the White Mountains. This is something that I have always wanted to do.  I contacted Tana Shaw to see if she was interested.  Tana has always took interest in my trips and wanted to go some day.  I booked the trip with REI and Tana did the same. That part of the trip started at the AMC's Highland Center. Tana and I made a few stops along the way.  There were 12 participants and 2 guides. Peggy Garner and I went to Turkey Run and Shades State Park with some friends from Missouri.  I have hiked in Missouri with them before. A couple of them even came to Isle Royale with me a couple of times.  I am posting a little late, so hope I can remember some of the details. Pre planning, some were going to do the ladder trails specifically and the others are heading out for the suggested trails that are not flooded or closed.
