What does it cost to motorhome in France?

One of the most common reasons people don’t travel is the high costs. The cost to motorhome in France is often comparable to staying in hotels or even Airbnbs, with the added bonus that you can get away from the touristy spots and head into small villages and national parks. I went through all of our credit card statements to put together a rough estimate of how much our one-month road trip across France cost. The answer: expensive. And worth it! We are a family of four, with a one-year-old and a three-year-old. All of the prices include meals and food for four, plus additional costs that we ..read more

Our Honest Experience with Boundless Life (Boundless Life Review)

This post was not paid for by Boundless and contrary to our standard disclaimer above, contains zero affiliate links. We paid full price and this is our honest Boundless Life review. A couple of years ago I texted Alyssa a link to a company I’d found called Boundless Life. Some friends of ours had recently gone through their inaugural cohort and the concept seemed interesting. At the time, Boundless Life had two locations in Greece and Portugal. In each spot, you could enroll your kids in a school, get access to a coworking space, and be surrounded by like-minded families. It kind of sounds li ..read more

Should You Rent an RV in Japan? What to Know Before You Go

Last spring we took an unconventional trip to Japan. Instead of the traditional few days in Tokyo and other big cities, we opted to rent an RV in Japan and spend two weeks exploring backroads and small towns. We still enjoyed some of the highlights in Tokyo, Kanazawa, and Kyoto, but some of our favorite memories were spent next to streams, mountains, and beaches across rural Japan. If you’re currently planning a trip to Japan, I wanted to share a few things I wish we had known before renting an RV in Japan. Why Would You Rent an RV in Japan? Japan is known for having some of THE best public t ..read more

One Year As Biz Owners: Key Takeaways and Surprising Numbers

Well, it’s been a full year since we bought RVinspiration.com and our monthly(ish) updates on the process are getting all wrapped up today. I’m excited because it’s been more work than I bargained for writing these recaps each month, though every one I’ve written has helped me learn and understand more about the business. But, ultimately, I’d rather write articles about pretty RVs than write articles about writing articles about pretty RVs. Here’s the gist:  Last December, we bought our first business. The business included two websites, RVinspiration.com a blog about renovating RVs, and ..read more

2023 Year End Review

In what has become a tradition, I am sharing my year-end review (a week late albeit). For a decade Alyssa and I have sat down at the end of a year to recap the highs and lows.  As a practice, it gives me a ton of gratitude. It’s easy to forget about all of the good things that happen in a given year. We have a focus on the bad, but there’s almost always more good than bad. I also love to read other people’s year-end reviews. If you have a year review to share I’d love to read it in the comments! So, without further ado. Here’s my 2023 Year in Review. Things That Went Well in 2023 Visiting ..read more

Tour our FAVORITE RV Rental Ever (Wilderness Motorhomes New Zealand)

RV design has come SO FAR in the last 10 years. The differences between a 2013 RV and a 2023 RV are staggering. You can really see these modern innovations in this Wilderness Motorhome rental. It’s no joke when I say this was our favorite RV floorplan EVER. Tour it with us: Watch time: <10 minutes In addition to being beautiful, this RV was particularly functional with movable floor pieces that turned the shower into a hallway when not in use. Plus I think this is the only RV rental we’ve had that has the step outside the RV instead of inside the RV. This meant never on ..read more

One small town you HAVE to visit in New Zealand!

The small town of Akaroa is a quick drive from Christchurch. It’s a popular day trip for travelers and is known as the one place in New Zealand settled by the French. We visited in 2018 and found the town to be quaint and beautiful. It’s set on the water and surrounded by mountains with plenty of cafes and restaurants with views of the sunset. But what we missed on our first visit to Akaroa is perhaps what Akaroa is best known for—the water. For this visit we booked a boat tour with Black Cat Cruises with a guarantee that we would see dolphins (or your money back). With such a claim, the kids ..read more

The hardest part of traveling with kids (solved!)

This spring we took our family of four on a whirlwind trip from America to Japan to New Zealand. Our kids have flown to Europe a few times, but these 14+ hour flights were a test for them. So when we saw the option to upgrade our economy seats to a Skycouch, we were intrigued. What is the SkyCouch? Skycouch is an invention by Air New Zealand where a row of seemingly standard airline seats turns into a “couch”. Though I think bed is a better descriptor! The seats lean back as usual, but there’s also a button that kicks up footrests that lock into place. The effect is about the size of a short t ..read more

We ran out of water while camping… ? ?

If you’ve ever RVed before, you know that there is an extra set of logistics to handle as you travel. You need to monitor you batteries and your water and your tanks. As seasoned RVers, we’re used to this. Ellie, however, isn’t. So when we found a beautiful remote campsite on a long stretch of quiet beach, we were excited to spend a relaxing night enjoying the outdoors…until we realized someone had left the sink running and drained our water tank. With no water bottles and no water hookups nearby, we were in a tough spot. Watch the video:  Thank you to the nearby motorhome who loaned us ..read more

What to do When Rain Ruins Your Vacation

When I dreamed of traveling, I always pictured airplanes and trains. But once we hopped in an RV for my honeymoon, my mind was opened to a whole new world of travel. We fell in love with the freedom and flexibility that a home on wheels allows and decided that was how we would see the world. We’ve now RVed in ELEVEN countries around the world! Subscribe to our YouTube channel New Zealand is arguably the most campervan-friendly country in the world (in my experience France is a close second). But what do you do when the weather turns wet? Camping in the rain is less than no fun. It’s dirty ..read more
